I tried to download or create custom wallpapers for my Liquid and run into a size problem.

I understand that it should be 960x800, same as for Nexus One because it has the same resolution, but the "gallery" app that sets wallpapers presents a crop box that is significantly smaller and the result is a grainy part of the intended image.

I used Wallpaper Box HD app to browse their collection and when I set wallpapers from there it works fine, but when I save their images and try to set them via Gallery instead I run into the same crop box issue.

Even if I use smaller 640x480 images Gallery still gives me a crop box and the result is even worse.

Any ideas?

Should I make my intended wallpapers bigger by adding empty space so that when the crop box comes up I can get the original image fit in? What should be the "canvas" size then? What should be the actual wallpaper size?

Two fingers to expand crop box doesn't work for me, but I've discovered that it's possible to catch a side of it and little arrows will pop up to make the box bigger.

It's pretty difficult to find that sweet spot, and I can't make the box smaller again.

The crop box, as far as I know, always maintains it's height-width ratio and so 720x960 image gets cropped to something like 720x900, I don't know the way to find the exact dimensions of the cropped image.

Shouldn't the height be 800, give or take a few pixels? Should the top of the image go under notification bar and so can be left black?

Maybe it's a wrong place to ask, these things are not Acer specific, but I don't know any wallpaper making clubs or something. Also the number of the home screens should affect the wallpaper width, shouldn't it?

Yeah height should be 800. 960x800 is what I have found to be the closest.

Yeah its a pain. If you mess up, just Discard and re-do.
