Okay thanks.

Is there anyone in CA in the OC/L.A. area that would be willing to do this for me with my Optimus M?

I'd be willing to buy a few beers and or lunch or whatever for whoever can help me.

I know I won't be able to do it on my own plus I don't have a computer.

My Optimus M is 2.2.1. Will I be able to do this, or does it have to be 2.3.4?

The only thing we are changing is how the phone finds the strongest signal. Do not see why it would not workon your Optimus . If root make a backup prior to just in case

Hi,

I followed the instructions to do the mod but apparently nowhere I go has 3G, it's all 1, no 3G is anywhere around. I'm wondering if any of these changes make it more difficult to get the highest speed possible in this 1G environment?

I would have thought Boston would be 3G but no. and nowhere in-between me in CT & Boston has 3G. So with that said, I need to maximize my 1G speed. Does this mod do that? if so I should leave it alone. If not, what instruction set do I need to follow?

Thanks

Really don't know if it would change anything for you. Only way to tell is to run a speedtest before and after.

oh it tells you realtime signal cells or w/e they are called and they show you where you can find better signal ( a map shows you) but it doesn't boot your signal. i use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dokomon.networkboosterfree
Since it has some good reviews and i think it works..

Since QPST doesn't seem to want to work on Ubuntu with Wine, does anyone know of an alternative program to QPST that this can be done with via a computer with Ubuntu on it?

Kiss Samsung admire rooted with admiral beast rom

THANKS A BUNCH!! Way faster than before. No buffering on youtube app. Most pages on net seem to pull right up. I honestly dont know how I managed before. This MOD rocks!!!! I cant imagine this not working or slowing a connection down as others stated. This was a vast improvement. I'm a total noobie so didnt think to do speed test prior and have no screen it app yet. My download speed was 1514 and upload 533. Ping was 84. That means nothing to me but the results I see do. I recommed this mod to all.

With a signal fluctuating between -70dBm to -80dBm, I used to get 15-20 kbps. Now I get 128kbps. Not much of a gain, but its still better than nothing!

EDIT - Great. Now my 3G connection comes and goes. Is there anyway to revert these settings I changed back to stock?

You could always try reversing the direction in step 9 of the OP.

Well, obviously. Not going to get any computer to work without a CPU.

Now, how about without a Windows PC?

Yep. Same exact issue on my end too. I asked if it were possible to go back to stock setting but went unanswered.

He's in Dallas, and I am too. I can confirm that I've gotten some slower speeds, and off and on 3G over that last couple of days. I thought it was just from the storms that we've had over the last couple of days. Then I saw some of the posts on the forum here. I haven't had the ota update to prl 3027 yet, nor have I done the *228 to try and get it. I put my phone back to the mobile IP today, and I seem to have better connection; though certainly slower. I went from 400 - 600 kbps back to 100 or so.

Yes you can go back. Just repeat the process for putting it on simple open and switch back to mobile ip and hit write in qpst

What this guy said. Just simply follow the instructions as you did before and just instead of setting to Simple IP click Mob IP and Write to Phone. Step reversed. Common sense ;x

My phone: samsung admire, rooted. Worked flawlessly.

Edit: phone also had the up to date 3026 prl at the time also.

Wait until you learn how to tweak it past 1.3MB/s

Everyone that hasn't looked at losing Data / 3G connectivity post, should know that MetroPCS is working on "updating" 3G service. It might be a couple days before everyone's 3G is stable. Mine is right now, and I'm getting full service in my house (which has never happened) at 900kb - 1mb . So just relax, it's not QPST.

OK. Ran this on my rooted Optimus M. Seems to work great on Download speeds. Anyhow here are my CVS results from speedTest.net:

Yeah i had to drop mine back to the 3026 prl to get it to work correctly cuz for whatever reason 3027 isnt stable enough to allow simple ip
