ohh.. my.. god.. i really wish people would search before making post, just saying mate, this thread has been made a bunch of times already. 3 or 4 i think. anyways the most favored roms are OPEN ANDROID and MONSTER 5.3, they both have flashable ICS themes and they both have overclockable kernel versions and stock kernel version. remember not all phones can handle the overclock kernel as well as other so you yourself have to decide which is better on your device. DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER FROM THE APP STORE, you have been warned the most important crucial part of the admire . and the 2nd is to always read the threads, they could already have the answers to any problem you might be facing, and if you can find it then make a post within the appropriate thread and you will be help

wonferful question actually, use this to create a backup. trust me you are gonna want this and most likely need it if you intend on flashing roms.
[Odin] Clockworkmod Recovery - Not compatible with Rom Manager yet

once that is done you, id suggest performing a factory reset and then performing a backup through CWM. this will allow you to revert back from a rom or to get rid of your root incase you need it. as for the neew update, you can always try it and if you dont like then use can you previously stated backup to return back to 2.3.4. if you intend to have options like theming then dont update, the 2.3.4 has many more possibilities but thats just my view mate. oooh AND BY THE WAY WELCOME TO ADMIRE FORUMS!

Upgrading to 2.3.6 is a separate rom on it's own. So if you want it then upgrade but if you flash another rom it won't matter since it'll just erase 2.3.6. And there's no custom rom's based on it so i wouldn't do it unless you dont care about custom roms

i think that we can at least all agree that having an unrooted backup at your disposal is pretty much a necessity for Android phones

lol well the thing is we do have 2.3.6 roms and we dont.

there was an update released by samsung awhile back that casue havoc on the metropcs admires. it was meant for the generic versions of the admire. any rom for the admire that has 2.3.6 is based of that update. the official metropcs update was just recently released so there are not official 2.3.6 roms yet. the ones we do have do work though, they arent in anyway bad

Open Android is 2.3.6 based. I'm running the lazy Admire version and loving it! Three weeks now and stable as can be.

head over to the monster thread if you want to talk about the rom, it will be faster but here ya go

from Toastrman:
Sooner or later im going to start up a youtube channel just for the admire and all of its roms for newbies like you lol :P Video doesnt work with the camera that comes with the rom. You need to uninstall it and install camera ics from the market that will fix the problem. As for the launcher, the launcher that comes with the rom is buggy and as you noted, does not show apps that are on the sd card. You can download a launcher that i know a lot of people like on here called "Holo Launcher". It is themed like ICS and looks really nice with the ics theme for this rom. If you dont want to do that however, you can just make backups of all your stuff on your phone with titanium backup and then everything will show up again. You will have todo this everytime you reboot so its just smart to get another launcher

btw if you like the blue ics look then flash this sexy theme by paris
[Theme] ICS for Monster 5.3 Come and get it!!

Just outta curiosity, which is the "open android" rom? I searched the "all things root guide" and some other threads to try to find it. I'm happy with the rom I got, but just wanna check what else is out there. Might be missing out on something!

Didn't search hard enough.. but the link in the all things root guide needs to be updated but here's the link to thread i made about it. It has links to the rom in it http://androidforums.com/admire-all-things-root/587926-rom-oa-2-3-20-final-ext4-rfs-updated-09-8-12-a.html

Oh, DUH! That's the one that I have. Guess I forgot about the label at the top when I downloaded the rom, and the "open android" tab when I pull down my notifications! I guess I got thrown off too, cuz I was looking for a link different from the rom I already had stating "open android". I guess I've always thought of it as the 2.3.2 rom, since that's what it says in the link.--AND totally missed that the link says "OA"!!!! (stupidstupidstupid) LOL!
