Coverflow anyone?

Fab...are you running Bugless Beast (the 7.x overclocked ROM)?
Reason I ask, is the only update.zip posted at this point is for Bugless Beast...wondering if you went ahead and applied it to the 8.x Bugless Beauty ROM, or ?
<edit>never mind, just found the Bugless Beauty update.zip in the original ROM thread...confusing when he releases an update but doesn't up the version number!

FYI: Pete has pulled 8.4...he accidentally posted it w/the 800 overclock this afternoon, he may have mixed up his ROMs a bit.

Running the latest version of Bugless Beauty, and it seems to have broken TubeDroid. Before it would work just fine, and now it only downloads audio, but no video (just a black screen)
Anyone else getting this?

Sweet, Beast just got bumped to 950. Was planning on upping to 900 by other means tomorrow, but now I guess I'll just update the rom. Updates are flying too fast for me to keep up.

heh, yeah, I remember when he went from v1 to v4 in like a day and a half. And back then, he didn't have update.zip's, so we were all just flashing new nandroid images.

It certainly feels novel after weeks of hanging upon every word of 2.1 anticipation! Now I could really care less about the official update, except to wonder how awesome it'll be when peeps like pete get ahold of it.

Mmmm, guess I need to update then.
Quick question about Bugless Beast & Overclocking: I noticed it defaults to 800/250, and I wanted to set it to 800/125, but every time I adjusted the sliders in SetCPU the max would drop to 550. Do I need to flash a custom kernel on top of Bugless Beast to make SetCPU behave?

Do you have the latest version of SetCPU?
Also, do not choose 'Droid' as your device. Instead, scroll all the way down and 'Auto Detect'. That should fix it.

Yeah, the new version is awesome. It's basically what I had set up before (BB 0.8.4 + 950MHz + Coverflow music player), but it also has Wifi tether pre-enabled.
All I needed to download was Bezerker's fixed .apk. Now I'm hooked up to my Hackbook Mini and cruising at nice 3G speeds, all sans wire. Exciting!

Did you flash the 0.7.2 (2/1/10) update.zip or the quickfix update.zip in the 3D music app thread? The one in the music app thread is at 800MHz, while the Beast update.zip should allow 125/250/550/800/950.

I just followed the instructions on Pete's thread at Alldroid to use the update.zip. I've done it three or four times and it works perfectly. Do you have Sprecovery?

From Pete's thread on Bugless 7.2: AllDroid - View topic - [ROM] Bugless Beast [950MHz & Wifi] V0.7.2 (2/1/10)
About half way down the first message:
Update.zip Installation Info & Instructions (No Data Loss):
-You can upgrade from any rooted ROM that is 2.0.1
-Be sure to have signed into your Google account before installing
-Update (if available) all of your apps before installing
-Download update.zip
-Place update.zip on the root of sdcard
-Reboot into recovery
-Install
-Allow update.zip installation
-Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
-Enjoy!
His instructions include the following which I removed because it doesn't relate: -Uninstall any apk & odex files I previously moved to /data (Only If Installing Over 0.7 Or Previous ROMS)

I'll wait until they get the kinks worked out of the N1 maps. Seems 8.5 is causing some isolated issues as well. I'll stay with 8.4 for the time being.

I just went straight from a rooted droid with the 900 MHz nandroid image to Beast and I have to say, it truely is spectacular with all the new N1 updates and it's flying pretty good at 950 MHz.
It's bugless so far except one one thing. When I first turn on the phone, it kind of glitches out. It takes a bit longer than stock to get to the security screen to input my line sequence, then when it finally gets there, it flickers the screen, then restarts the Droid boot animation and takes another min to get to the lock screen again. Has anyone else expirienced this or know what might be causing it?
Thanks!
Also, I like the new weather / news widget a lot, but it's showing a sun at night time! I want it to show a friggin moon! Wtf Google?! Lol, small issue, I know..

Sorry for the noob question but how do you get this rom to overclock? I have SETCpu but of course its only 550 max. I'm running 8.6 and I thought maybe it was already built for overclocking. Like I said, sorry for the noob question but I'm just starting the rom experience and I love it!

8.6 refers to the latest version of Bugless Beauty? If so, Beauty is not overclocked. It will only run 550. As I understand it, Beauty is the same as beast except for that.

I imagine you can overclock it with one of the custom kernels that out there. But if you're going to do that, you just as well load Beast. But here's a page that has three kernels - 800, 900 and 1 gig. AllDroid - View topic - Droid is stable at 800MHz. Nuff said *950MHz, 1.1GHz added* Scroll down about 1/3 of the way and there you will find evilboot8, evilboot9 and evilboot1g. I used all three and they work as advertised. Installation instructions are on that page too. I think I used the nandroid versions of those files (it was weeks ago and I can't even remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, so....). good luck

I was just curious. I have installed both Beauty and the latest I have installed is the Beast and I am loving it because of the over clocking but I see in both roms Verizons Visual Voice mail is supposedly uninstalled but its still in mine. Everything like facebook and amazon mp3 are gone as advertised but I want visual voice mail gone! Is there something I'm missing?

With Root Explorer you can go into your apps and either rename it or delete it that way.

Anyone have Taz 1100 or 1300 on their Beast? Do I have to go to Beauty to do the Taz kernel? I would rather noth have to do a wipe.
I tried 1100 and 1300 with Beast and toooo many issues, went back.

Everything like facebook and amazon mp3 are gone as advertised but I want visual voice mail gone! Is there something I'm missing?

I don't know. I update.zipped new Beast 7.4 on top of nandroid install of 7.3 and neither time did I have VZW Visual Voicemail.

I've had the same thing happen for me for the past couple updates of his. No idea why it's happening (also when I unmount USB, it'll restart once, maybe twice). Seems to be something worth living with since everything else is great.

Anyone having problems with SM Updater? I know see a lng info screen instead of the normal menu. I tired reinstalling and going back to 1.05 but still have the same problem. I have not been able to log on Sholes webpage from work so don't know if they posted any new issues.

It's your notifications if you have one set from your sdcard try changing it to a stock notification. The problem should go away. I converted an .mp3 to a .ogg file, then tried for three hours last night using adb to move it from the sdcard to the system/media/audio/motifications. I got it to show up in there but couldn't see it on the list to select it.
I'm pretty much a n00b when it come to Linix so mabye some one here can come up with a solution.
Edit: I found a Linix n00b solution (I am not responsible if you brick your phone!)
1. Download root explorer from the market
2. You DON'T have to convert from .mp3 to .ogg
(You MUST rename them if you want to keep them on your sdcard also or you won't know which one is which in the notification list. i.e. mario.mp3 to mariosd.mp3)
3. Open RootExplorer
4. Go in to your sdcard/notifications file and select copy or use Multiselect from the menu to select more than one.
5. Navagate to system/media/audio/notifications
6. Press the Mount R/W button ( Make sure it changes to Mount R/O)
7. Press paste (Look for files to make sure they made it into the file)
8. Press the Mount R/O button ( Make sure it changes to Mount R/W)
9. Exit RootExplorer
10. Restart your phone
11. Select new notification from your phone and reboot to enjoy!

I did mine through the update.zip. Just download the current beast update.zip and put it on the sdcard (NOT in any folders). boot to recovery. select Install, then select Allow update.zip instilation, the select install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated). Make sure it finishes, reboot and Enjoy
If that does not work go back over the steps required to get to this step. Mabye you missed something.

Nice, this fixed it for me, thanks a lot man. Yeah, I had some a Mabilo tone (MGS codec beep) for my notification sound, so I copied it over and boot up is fast now .
Also, now I can copy my Silent Hill siren sound over to make it my alarm now . It was kind of annoying you can't change your alarm sound without rooting .
Thanks!

I didn't even think about the alarm. My wifes gonna love that.
I also discovered from another form that if you unckeck SD Card Notifications in your settings it will stop multi rebooting also. Incase anyone wants it to stop without messing around in the system files.

So finally decided to take the plunge and almost like an oman the latest Beast update.zip seems to be unavailable...any thoughts?
Also, should this thread now be moved to the new sub-thread? (all things root, rom, etc...)
