I've seen this asked, but I have'nt seen an answer. After installing this I don't have the regular email app. I still have gmail, but no email. It isn't really important, but I do like to be able to check my email on the go sometimes. I have it linked to my live mail account. Can I get this back without going back to stock 2.0.1.?

Yes, just reinstall the ROM and when you get to the recovery screen, make sure that there is no (*) in the box next to email app. That should do it..

Pay very close attention as you're installing. Some will say "Choose what you want to install" and others will say "Choose what you want to uninstall"
Don't ever rush through the set up as you're doing things. Read everything carefully and you'll be good to go

Since we never had multitouch built into our browsers before rooting besides dolphin browser, i got used to dolphin browser. Is the new multitouch broswer built into the sholes update better than dolphin browser?

I'm rooted and have sholes 2.0.3. Can I update to 2.1?
Will it ask me automatically? Or will I have to update it manually? Kind of new here and used the search, but didn't find anything. Tia

You dont want to update it. Sholes has more 2.1 features than the half baked 2.1 that they are issuing (no 3d stuff, uses the tray at the bottom etc). You could unroot your phone uninstall back to normal, then it would auto update.
I would hope sholes doesnt allow system updates unless manual.
It would be a downgrade, but if you dont like wifi tethering, it could be a more stable option.

Mine works fine. First check to see if Maps works. If it doesn't, you need to fix that first. Go to settings/applications,Google Maps, and select remove application/update. Then go to Market and updat it again. Lemme know how you make out...

I wiped data and just got everything reloaded. Maps is not working right. I do not have Google Maps in Manage Applications but Market wants to know if I want to update.

Update it, and you should be good to go.
If it still doesn't work, go here for the cure: AllDroid - View topic - Google Maps force close
I hope this helps you out!

Does anyone have multi-touch working in the browser using Sholes 2.3 (re-installed and double checked that it is selected). It works great in my maps and gallery but nothing in the browser.
Just another heads up - did another reflash and my temperature spiked 20 degrees. Without touching the settings I reflashed again and now all is well. Just one of those bizarre anomalies. Monitor your temps (especially when overclocking)!

It works fine on my Droid, but I'm running 2.0.4. It doesn't work for the Google home page though. BTW, DroidRootPro shows the Time Stamp to be "30 Jan 2010 12:21:00". No version number...

"You Are Correct Sir" (Ed McMahon)
If you want it back, just re-install the Rom and remember to read the options carefully.
If the (*) is next to a line that says "remove" somthing, it will not be installed.
On the other hand, if you have (*) next to a line that doen't have "remove" in it, it will be installed.
As well, if you have an app that is already on your phone, selecting "remove" will not remove it from the phone, it will just not install it. To remove it from the phone, you either need to use the Application Manager to remove it, and if it doesn't show up there, you need to wipe the data.
I hope this helps you out in the future...

Your very welcome!
Just let SMUpdate do it's thing. It's probable just updating you to the latest Rom, or recovery image. When it's done install the latest Rom (2.0.3 I believe), and when it boots back into recovery, make sure you are careful about the way you make your selections (*) or ( ).
Lemme know how you make out....

It was just "0.99.3b Recovery" I will wait for 2.0.4 to come out and then get my Car Home back.

I would be scared that if you update to the stock 2.1 you may not be able to go back to root unless they find a completely new exploit. Someone may know better than me though.

Now you're rooted and can do whatever you like with all the apps that require root access to work. WiFi-Tether, Overclock, Different Rom's, etc...
Do some reading around the forums having to do with root access and see what others are doing.
Enjoy the freedom!

It has been stated repeatedly that 2.1 WILL break root acess ability until a new exploit is found. Being rooted, on Sholes 2.0.3, OC'ed, plus having a custom boot animation, I am not willing to jump to the new 2.1 and possibly hate it.
I am going to hold off until the devs release a modded 2.1 rom, keeping root, and hopefully adding the features that the Nexus One has that us Droiders are not getting..

You can download it here:
SMUpdater 6 released | Sholes
You can use Astro File Manager to install the .apk file.
I am thinking about doing this tonight.

I just went to the site on my phone and clicked the download button... my phone downloaded it and then just installed it once the download was done... I don't use Astro or APKinstaller... the phone seems to do it already as long as it is in apk format

Sure!
First, go to Setings/Application Settings/ and check "Unknown Sources". this will allow you to install apps that are not downloaded from Market.
Then, go to Market and search for "Astro File Manager". It's a great app in and of itself, but will also allow you to open .apk (application) files.
Open the .apk file, and select "install"

The free version is exactly the same as the paid version.
I had never paid for an app before SMUpdater, but since I bought it for 5 bux, and found out that Google gets 30% of all apps sold in Market, I donated another $10.00 to Sholes.info just because it is worth it, and more.
You decide...
