NOTICE: THIS IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE THAT CAN NOT USE THE LGMU METHOD {MAY ALSO SERVE AS AN UNBRICK GUIDE BUT MAY CAUSE ISSUES WITH THE MEID}
DO NOT FLASH WITH LGNPST WHILE STUCK IN EMERGENCY DOWNLOADING DO NOT UNPLUG MODE
AS ALWAYS I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE WHILE USING THIS GUIDE
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THIS SOFTWARE/GUIDE IS VIRTUALLY IDIOT PROOF. SO MUCH SO I HAD MY 7 YEAR OLD SISTER READ THROUGH AND DO IT WITH MY ALLY...AND SHE WAS SUCCESSFUL....
THIS DOES NOT FLASH THE STOCK RECOVERY
YOU NEED 7ZIP OR WINRAR FOR THIS. I RECOMMEND 7ZIP. GOOGLE IT.
STEP 2:Extract the folder inside the 7z to your desktop. You should now have a folder labeled LGNPST on your desktop.
IT IS CRUCIAL YOU FOLLOW THESE NEXT FEW STEPS IN ORDER!
STEP 3: Install the File LGNPST_General_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi.
STEP 4: When that completes, install the file LGNPST_Components_Ver_4_0_22_0.msi.
STEP 5: When that completes, install the file LGNPST_GenericModels_Ver_4_0_9_0.msi.
STEP 6: Once finished installing those 3 files, open a new windows explorer window and navigate to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST.
STEP 7: Bring up the window that shows the LGNPST folder on your desktop. Copy the LGNPST.exe file from the LGNPST Lab 1.2 folder to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST.
DO NOT DELETE THE LGNPST_General.exe file.
STEP 8: Go to your desktop and look for a shortcut to LGNPST, if there is one Delete it. Then go back to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST and Right click on LGNPST.exe(NOT LGNPST_GENERAL.exe) and choose Send To: Desktop (Create Shortcut).
STEP 9: Go back to your LGNPST folder and copy the VS740.dll file to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST.
STEP 10: Go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt.
STEP 11: In the command prompt window type WITH the quotes:
Code:
cd "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST"
and press enter.
STEP 12: You should now be at a prompt that says
Code:
C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST>.
STEP 13: Type in:
Code:
regsvr32 VS740.dll
(If successful it should say the file was registered successfully, If you get an error message, Reboot your PC and try again.)
STEP 14: Close out of all the windows explorer windows, you shouldn't need them anymore at this point, and Double click on the LGNPST shorctut you created earlier.
STEP 15: When LGNPST loads, have your phone plugged in with USB Debugging on. In a couple minutes it should display a phone, click on it then go to File>Select DLL, and choose the VS740.dll file from the list.
STEP 16: Click the Provision tab and select upgrade.
STEP 17: Where it says BIN File, click the folder button and browse to the BIN folder in the LGNPST directory on your Desktop.
STEP 18: In the Open BIN File window type: *.* in the File Name box.
STEP 19: Click the VS740ZV6_01.TOT file then click Open.
STEP 20: Where it says SCR File, check the box and click the folder button and navigate to the SCR folder in the LGNPST directory on your Desktop.
STEP 22: Click VS740ZV6_01.SCR then click Open.
STEP 23: Check the box next to PRL and Uncheck the NAM2 box. Go back to NAM1 and click the folder button, and navigate to the PRL folder in the LGNPST directory on your Desktop.
STEP 25: Click the 58005 - OEM EVDO DEFAULT.PRL file and click open
STEP 26: Click the START button, and DO NOT touch anything while this runs, this will switch the phone to the EMERGENCY DOWNLODING, DO NOT UNPLUG screen.
STEP 27: This process should take about a half hour at the very most to complete. Usually takes < 20min
STEP 28: Once the phone is on, you will probably get a bunch of Force Close boxes. Unplug the phone, and pull the battery then re-insert.
STEP 29: Do a factory reset by pressing and holding VOL UP+HOME+END
STEP 30: Once the phone is powered back on, make sure the phone is provisioned correctly and update your PRL file by dialing *228 and selecting Option 2
STEP 31: Dial *#*#CHECKIN#*#* and get pushed all the OTA updates and install them.
STEP 32: You're done with this guide. If coming from Trident's Root and Froyo guide, you may return to that AND START WITH STEP #10 HERE:[GUIDE] FroYo 2.2.1 for Root Users! - Android Forums

THANKS!! a lot you save my phone... it was stuck on the verizon downloading LG and thats it...this unfroze it work very well. thanks and same here glad we have great dev's to work on this phone
If anyone gets stuck in a bootloop after downgrading and starts freaking out when they realize that their recovery got wiped, don't worry. Got go to step #29.
This.... SAVED MY PHONE! It was actually in such bad shape it would only allow emergency options, and wouldn't allow me the upgrade option. So I followed the guide up to step 19 and flashed it with the DLL and BIN, then after a long nervous wait my phone boots back into Android. Now it can't make calls - so I am going through the whole process of using the LGNPST Application - this time able to follow the directions and upgrade.
Okay... I went through the process and when the phone came back up it has a triangle flashing to the left of my signal bar, which I imagine is saying I'm roaming. It of course wants to activate my phone - but when I press either 1 or 2 it says Alltel... Which of course I'm on Verizon. Did I slip up somewhere or could it have latched on to a wrong tower by mistake? I had a work cellphone do that one time when a Verizon tower went down.
Okay after a little bit of playing around I found online that by tapping the four corners of the activation screen you can bypass it. Once I did that I inserted my wifi data and proceeded to get on the market place and get Astro, and Rom Manager. I used Z4Root to root the phone, then used Rom Manager to flash the custom recovery. So at this point I have all the tools in place I could think of... I tried flashing Velocity 4 & it's baseband file with no luck - it all installed fine but still says it's on alltel.
I'm back to having a bootable phone - it just seems to have forgotten what network it's on.
Death: you had told me in IRC to try flashing the PRL. When I did just that - my Ally is on the Verizon network, but my phone won't activate or update roaming.
In the LGNPST program, when I click the "Phone Setting" button, the box NV Editor comes up, but in it's Basic Information shows a few things I know are problems.
Phone S/W Version: VS740ZV6
Warranty Date: Not Set
ESN: 00000000
MEID: Not Active
Life Timer: Not Support
Life Count: Not Support

Same thing here ...I was able to dial the *228 and have signal not 3g but with the triangle on the notification bar but the MEID is all 0's with phone number and MIN are all the same.. when trying to activate the phone the operator said unable to activate the phone, the MEID is like the phones identity not sure
Please tell me you guys did not flash with lgnpst while you were at the white Downloading Do Not Unplug screen.....
That would be correct.... and based on your reaction I'm guessing it's going to have to go back to Verizon? Or is there a way to plug in the information the phone seems to be missing to identify itself on the network.
In my own defense, no other methods would work at the time to unbrick the phone.. This was basically my last ditch effort to try and salvage it.

Well, idk if verizon will help or not. and there is a way to do it but those methods are illegal for me to discuss.

Well I suppose I'll try taking it in and play dumb. Guess my best bet is going to be to say that something happened after getting a notice for the ota.
Death, I was having a problem while trying to get the froyo update and had to use this method of unbricking my phone, which worked great by the way with the only exception that I somehow managed to wipe my meid from the phone. I think I posted this on a different thread but I had so many tabs opened I can't really remember which one I posted on. I know you had said it was against policy to post a guide to correcting this but if you could pm me or gtalk (dixey21) or email (dixey21@gmail.com) even just a point in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks though without your help I'd still just have a rather sophisticated paper weight!

Those who like me ended up wiping our MEID's might just want to do what I did. I took it to the local Verizon repair store, the key thing is that is has to be one that is capable of doing the phone servicing, so a lot of the smaller stores won't be able to help you.
The sales person tried to reprogram the phone via bluetooth, which of course didn't work, and he tried taking it off my account and giving it a dummy ESN but that didn't work either.
Long story short, I will have my replacement phone tomorrow by 7. If you get there before 5 you will have the replacement to your house next day via FedEx if the store doesn't have the Ally in stock, which was the case for me.
I would advise of course loading everything back to stock, and what I did was say I got a message about an OTA and after the update it didn't work for anything. Play dumb, they didn't really ask me anything else.
Good luck to everyone else with the similar problem!
for those with zeroed out meid and esn, u will need cdma workshop to repair the meid. or qxdm might work too
QXDM works but you need to do other shit to get it to work. and CDMA workshop does not work. Tried and failed. I know how to do it but it is illegal to discuss here on the forums

Hey Death, this was just a thought to possibly add to your tutorial. Someone on another forum had said if I had done a backup that I would have been able to restore a NVS file. I don't know if that's something that might be helpful to some people to add in how to do a backup of your phones current state prior to attempting the method, or if that's a feature from a completely different piece of software. I'm not familiar with this stuff, it was just a thought.
Ummmm...wasn't there a thread in the Optimus M section of the forums dealing with LGNPST that recently got deleted and the poster was subsequently banned for questioning it's removal? Why is this thread acceptable and that one wasn't? Just sayin'.
He got banned because he questioned the integrity of the mods and reposted the thread. instead of standing by like he was asked to do. AND he originally got approval for it. As to why it was deleted i dont know. but until this thread gets deleted i figure its here for those who need it. if you wish to report it then you know where the button is at, just sayin'
Yes I do know where it is and have utilized it. Only seems fair that if one of two threads dealing with the same programs and files, is not acceptable then neither should. Also, not that you were following the Optimus M threads but if you were, the OP of the LGNPST thread did not repost a duplicate thread nor did he question the integrity of any of the mods. Not to throw anyone under te bus, but it was asadullah that both reposted the lgnpst files and also made mention about androidforums being "infiltrated by members of cdmagurus". I'd love to see this thread stay and the other to return as they both are very helpful and informtive, but it just doesn't seem right for one to stay and one not. It's nothing personal, but the principal of it all.
Im sorry, I have nothing against andyo70 he posted a great guide and i was sad to see it get shut down. I would also like to see it get posted back up. I agree with you on the principal. of it. i went back and viewed the deleted thread again and saw i was wrong andyo70 WAS NOT at fault. I wish i knew why his thread got removed. It was originally approved by EarlyMon.

While it is forum policy not to comment on individual moderation issues in public, I can say that the thread referred to was not removed due to the general content therein.
I'm sorry I can't be any more specific, but there are one or two issues surrounding it which require an "okay" from the site owner and admins before it can be reapproved.
Man, I can't believe all the squabbling, only the poster and the one who flagged it for removal know exactly what and why it was removed. We can speculate all day long without actually knowing. Beside which, isn't this an Ally based thread? I'm no genius but isn't that a little like comparing apples to oranges? I could see there being a good reason for that posts removal if the method were in question, not the tools. I don't mean to break anyones stones about it or anything, it's just I'd like to keep on topic with this thread, not make assumptions about another one. Thanks Death2All for your work, and (because I'm sure he has seen this whole thread by now) thank you Trident for your software and guides, without which I would still have a crappy little stock phone instead of the ass-kicking device I enjoy so well!
Ok. Noob here. Lazy noob. Used superoneclick to root phone. Decided to get rid of and do correct long way. Did the alternate v6 restore and things went well till after step 29. Do the reset pushing vol. up, home and end buttons. Phone reboots but get force close box that says android.process.acore has stopped. Help please.

Fixed almost immediately thanks to d2a in irc. Thanks everyone.
I'm having an problem with using LGNPST..followed the instructions but when my phone is plugged in it shows in the model as unknown. the provision tab is on emergency and I cant click on upgrade because it is greyed out.
Any ideas on what I should do would be appreciated.
No it is still normal an d usable. I have VS740ZVB on the phone. I tried tridents method to start over but I get a fatal error on the LG updater. Since I was almsost to C I tried from step 26 on and flash the stock recovery.img and then on reboot it dl/s a 24.9 meg update without me having to do the #*#*CHECKIN*#*# thing. When its done I reboot and nothing has changed, still VS749ZVB. I do checkin but it says i'm up to date, no updates. I have to do the recovery.img all over again to get anything. I then tried your method. It either shows my phone as unknown and I cant click the provision tab off of anything but emergency, or the couple of times it does recognize my phone as VS740 I get everything setup on the provision tab like it says in your doc, hit start, and it runs for a few seconds then crashes and throws an error saying it can't load the LGNPST-PostManager.dll which is there in the correct directory.
Kind of stumped since I can't get it th VS740ZVC I cant update to froyo, and I can't undo it to start over.
