[Nandroid] of 2.2.2 stock / rooted Updated 13 July 12
I decided to make a nandroid of stock 2.2.2, one rooted and one not rooted for what ever reason you might want to use it for. Just think of it as a way to quickly go to stock with or without root if you ever need to. This should leave amonra recovery you already have intact.
You must have a RA_GNM Recovery already installed and be on a Froyo 2.2.1, 2.2.2 based ROM.
Here's the download link Stock-222-rooted.zip108.6MB
MD5 checksum d0bb403ec6444caff11fd1cb34170838
**For LG Ally Only**
Do NOT try to flash this over a 2.1 based ROM as it WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE because the radio can't be flashed with a Nandroid.
You will need to download the file "stock-222-rooted.zip" and unzip it into your sdcard/nandroid/mem=223M directory.
As with all nandroid's you will need to wipe your Dalvik cache, and wipe all data just to be safe.
You will get a clean install of 2.2.2 rooted and the little android guy showing, ready to log into your account.
This will be as from the factory with all the included bloatware, but as you have root and amonra recovery you should easily be able to do what you want with it.
The below links are to threads others where you can find some useful tools to go along with the above Nandroids. Credit goes 100% to the OP of each of the listed threads.

Has anyone tried this yet? I was gonna do it, but I started thinkin' about it and I'm kinda leery, I'm not sure why? And then the "reserved" post from Dautly freaked me out. Like dude's just waitin' to see what happens!
I'm just messin' around man, But I would like to know if anyone else has had success with this action?
And I can flash 1.1 over 2.2.2 safely right?

Well i tried it, and you can flash velocity 1.0, 1.1 ,frunisher 1.0, over it or vice versa. Any Ally ROM based on 2.2.1 or 2.2.2. so Velocity 1.2 should be fine when it's out also (though I don't have Velocity 1.2 to test it with obviously)
As far as the reserved spot goes I meant to reserve the second post but got distracted with other things, lol!

I think I'm gonna try it. Or, is there another way to get 2.2.2(just to be up to date)? Maybe I should just wait for 1.2?
When I re-flash 1.1 over it, should I have to wipe anything?
Thanks man!!

It won't do any good to flash this nandroid just to flash velocity over it again because everything will be overwritten anyway. It's just a quick way to get back to stock with root and amonra recovery if you need to for whatever reason.
If you flash another ROM follow instructions by the author of that ROM, if your going to install a nandroid of another ROM over it wipe Dalvik cache and all data just to be safe.

If your having problems with the Nandroid your probably better off using the guide [GUIDE] FroYo 2.2.1 for Root Users! (Updated 3/3/2011 at 3:40 pm EST - NOW EASIER THAN EVER!)
to get back to a stock ROM and just take the OTA updates.
These Nandroids are offered "As is" with no support, no request for donations, and download bandwidth paid by me.
They have been tested out have worked for me as well as others, sorry they're not working out for you guys.
Guitar0zer0, You are using Nand Restore, not Nand backup right?
Thanks, I have used that method many many times with no problems at all, but this time the updater keeps hanging at 35% when reading model so that's why I was trying other methods. I think I'm going to put v8 on it since it will boot to Verizon splash screen before restarting again.

So when you say rooted and non rooted nandroid roms for the ally, what does that mean? if you flash 1 it will go back to unrooted? and if you flash the other it will stay rooted? what about the performance of one over the other? will you be able to unroot the rooted one if you wanted too? what are the differences?

There will virtually be zero performance difference between the rooted one and none rooted on as they are stock nandroids. Rooted one would only have the su bin and superuser.apk whereas the non-rooted one wouldn't.
As i stated above. The only difference the rooted one contains su and superuser.apk to have root whereas the non rooted one is well.. not rooted.

Thanks dots, just to add to that, the one thing you will keep with the stock nandroid (which you have to have in order to use these) is Amon Ra Recovery if you flash the stock one you can flash any other Amon Ra compatible ROM from unrooted stock anytime you want to. If you want to go back to 100% stock and Verizon's recovery you should use http://www.mediafire.com/?dhcuvh3exlh1wck 3.27MB
MD5 Checksum b5537d53c2d765a5342d3095cc388d63
After flashing the non rooted nandroid. It will overwrite Clockwork or Amon Ra Recovery with the stock VZW Recovery, so you will be 100% stock, no longer able to use nandroids, and will have to use other tools in this forum to re root your phone. This would be for if you need to get back to 100% stock in a hurry or want to sell your Ally as it came from Verizon.

I have had a few request so the links in the OP of this thread are once again active and with hassle free downloads as I just renewed my media fire subscription for another year. Grab them if you want them, host them if you can and want to help out the Ally Community! I made these files and if you host them I don't need credit for them but please don't take credit for something you didn't do yourself, and if you want to provide a link, please link to the post and not the flies themselves.
I am going to be hosting some large files for Bionic so I can't promise that these will be available for long.
I can't offer help for these either. I no longer have a activated Ally and just don't have the time, but if you read through the entire thread and the one at I need a Volunteer who wants to go back COMPLETELY STOCK you should be good to go.
