Default How to Disable Camera??

My workplace doesn't allow cameras, and hence doesn't allow cameraphones (which is nearly every phone these days). However, they allow software solutions to disable camera features on phones. Does anyone know how to disable the camera on the Ally? I'm using Velocity 1.2. I'd prefer this to be semi-reversible if possible. Thanks!

Hmm, that sorta worked. When you mentioned Arc Camera, I remembered that Velocity scripts can disable system apps so I did that. However, certain other apps can still access the camera, such as barcode scanner. Do you think there's any command I can use in terminal emulator to completely disable the camera?

Not without doen any internal rom work. It would be your responsibility of not accessing the camera or downloading any apps turning on the camera.
In the Bionx rom, i turned the camera button into a power button and back button.

No.......of course not

I will reach out to the developers of Velocity to see what they can do. I know in ICS, there's an option for it which has sprung an app or two. So it is possible.

Well, I found out how to disable it...by opening it up and removing the camera. Problem solved and still semi-reversible, although not nearly as reversible as I would have liked.

I'm an engineer for a sub-contractor of the Navy. I don't really blame them for these restrictions, since cameras are a huge security risk.

I'm having the same problem.
I have an application that is disabling the camera but other applications like barcode scanners are still working.
What do you mean by "opening it up and removing the camera"?
I have check other devices and some work OK and some don't.
Does any one have an idea what is the reason for this?
All devices are with ICS 4.0.3.
Thank you

I literally opened it up, took out the battery, unscrewed the case, and removed the camera. It just snaps in/out so it can be put back in if I ever really need it. I believe google included code in ICS to disable the camera at the request of enterprise customers, although I don't have an ICS device to test that on. Mine is Froyo so I'm out of luck.

Delete the camera app from root uninstaller. No app, no camera.

Root the phone, remove camera apk or freeze it with titanium backup. But what is the use of semi reversible software solution when one can revert back & take photo any time.

Your solution of taking out camera is more secure in that sense

At first I thought removing the camera app would work, but other apps such as barcode scanner can still access and use the camera. So while this is a good idea, it doesn't work as well as I hoped.
