Smile [BETA] Block Pro - New multigravity physics game

Hi everybody

I'm currently working on my first own game. Have previously made some games with friends (most successful is Eskimo Tower Defense), but this is my first project on my own. Would really appreciate some feedback on my work so far. Currently got 10 levels and 2 difficulties, along with a Arcade Mode.

LINK TO ANDROID MARKET

The game idea is the typical box stacker. The blocks are falling down and your job is to catch them and balance them for a period of time. You control the platform by tilting the phone left or right. The idea is for this game to be more advanced with time, with more modes and special blocks.

WOULD PLEASE LIKE SOME FEEDBACK ON THE FOLLOWING:
  1. Compability (How does it scale and work on your different devices?)
  2. Thoughts and suggestions on the current graphics
  3. Suggestions on new modes and features

Tested devices so far: HTC Desire (2.2), ZTE Blade (2.2), Milestone (2.1) Galaxy S, LG Opitmus 2X (2.2), HTC Hero (menu does not display)

Please not that the graphics is far from done and will definitely change to the final version.

Hope to hear from you soon!
Jonas Andersson

I like this game a lot. It works well on my evo. Do you think that the sensitivity is a bit high when the blocks are already on the platform? I feel like even if I move the platform just a little the blocks fall off. Maybe you could make the blocks weigh more?
Overall it's a great basic game. I enjoy it.

EDIT: Could you make possible to resume your game also?

Thanks for you reply! Glad you liked it!

I'm hopefully updating the game tomorrow. Have done a lot of progress with it today. Have increased the weight of the blocks a bit (and other nice stuff too). Update it tomorrow and see how you like it. Have not implemented a save feature yet but I think I'll have time to do that before tomorrows release.

Hi again.

Posted an update on the game now. Changes are:
  • New Water world (!)
  • Save game progress
  • Level selection
  • New bubble particle effect
  • Options to remove animations/particle effects
  • More stable blocks when moving bottom block
  • Minor bugfixes

Having some performance issues on my HTC Desire though, the blocks fall a bit "laggy". Would be nice to hear how the animations impact the performance on your devices! Animations can be turned on/off in the Options from the main menu.

The game works great on my lg ally, but I'm rooted and running a custom rom overclocked to 768mHz. Even still, it runs great. Love the underwater and the bubble trail, and thanks for the level select/save game. =)

Thumbs up

Gave it a go on my Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (Bell Canada variety).

Game performs great! Looks good. No problem with lagging.

The menu behaves a bit oddly. Pressing "Menu" brings up the "-Paused-" options, but pressing "Back" brings up an "Are you sure you want to quit?" popup and you can see the other menu trying to appear behind. Pressing cancel clears the popup, but then the "-Paused-" menu comes in. This behaviour is a bit odd.

Other than that tho, this is cool! Best of luck in your continued development.

Great! Thank you for your feedback!

Yes, I am aware of this problem. It's the next worst solution. The standard Android popup-confimation-dialog seems to lag a lot when started from within andengine. The solution was to start the menu behind it to not mess up the gameplay. But as this is a quite ugly solution I will redo the exit dialog, as well as the menus by myself. Will also remap the buttons so they are more logical
