I saw that someone had the latest Firefox nightly running on the Kindle Fire and it (finally) supports Flash Player.

Of course not; Amazon isn't going to encourage people to use something other than their mp3 cloud service.
I sideloaded Audiogalaxy, which allows me to stream my itunes collection to the Fire.

Hadn't even considered flash and im planning on using this as a family toy for the kids and myself. No flash is fine for me, but not including it s support stock is odd. Good to know there's a work around.

Its not a deal breaker or anything, but my wife is about 70% sure she wants to get this. Her big question is, does it work on Facebook Games? Like the Zynga, Playfish, Playdom, etc games through the browser? If it does, I have a feeling I will be driving up to Best Buy to purchase one for her lol.

I installed firefox and I hated it, it conflicted too much with silk it kept crashing my browser. Once I unistalled, my silk went back to working great. Plus when I wanted to click on any link it always asked me if I wanted to use amazon's or fire fox's browser. It got very annoying fast. Is it the same with opera mini?? I wanna try it.

So how did this work out for you? My wife now has a Kindle Fire and Facebook Scrabble refuses to run. It says we need a Flash update even though the Fire HAS flash player 10.2. I'm researching a solution.

I found the answer buried in an Amazon forum thread. It seems in their infinite "wisdom", the programmers who make the Kindle OS decided to default the Kindle Silk browser's support for Flash Player to OFF when they released the most recent update. This is one of my pet peeves - stupid default decisions assigned by programmers because "they" think it is a good idea, and it usually prevents device users from actually being able to do what they want to do on the device. Especially when such inane decisions REVERSE the previous default setting, with which users were accustomed and generally satisfied.

So we can now run the Facebook Scrabble game. The $4.99 Scrabble you can download works too, but it doesn't log into Facebook, so my wife can't play with her friends as easily. Each of them would also have to BUY the download.

Hmm. I sense a hidden agenda here.........

Didn't I finally answer your Flash issue in another thread earlier? lol

Just go to the Adobe site and download the latest from there. I'm on 11.1 right now

Actually we tried that first. But because the browser, which is needed to access Facebook, had Flash turned off, it didn't matter. Flash came installed on the Kindle Fire. I could see it was there. But without turning that setting to ON, upgrading to the latest Flash Player version still would not let the browser run Facebook's Scrabble, which is a Flash-based game.

I appreciate the suggestion though.

I just wanted to say thanks, this solved my issue watching embedded video with silk. I never would have thought to look for the culprit in the browser's settings.

Is it relevant that Doubletwist can be used as an iTunes replacement? Considering Steve Jobs himself forbade Android users the "pleasure" of ever using iTunes?

Hooray for being able to sideload any app via a file manager, though. Doubletwist, Flash, or otherwise.
