Need Help Please =(

I bought some Skullcandy Heavy Medal earbuds and they are amazing but when i plugged them into my Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 it doesnt register that there are any earphones plugged in. When I play music it comes out the loudspeaker instead of through the audio out and into my ears.

Help me someone!
