I only use headphones when traveling and these are awesome. They do a great job keep the outside noise out and are comfortable.

I thought I'd tag my query to the end of this thread.

Can anyone suggest good sports running in-ear earphones that are compatable with Android (Galaxy S3) i.e have a mic(answer calls) and controls(volume/track change)?

Since I be running I would need earphones that blocks less outside noise and thus permits me to be more aware of the immediate environment.

I found these which are exactly what I'm after but since discovered the controls do not work with Android and only Apple products.
http://sennheiser.co.uk/uk/home_en.nsf/root/private_headphones_sport-line_504601 something similar to this that is compatiable with Android would be great.

I'd be grateful for any recommendations.

thanks.

The volume buttons won't work, and they say they're for iDevices, but they work fine on my One X. If you definitely need volume, you can use them in conjunction with Jays Headset Control to have long press/triple click of the mic button as volume up or down.

Sound quality is excellent, they're pretty comfortable and the cables are isolated so you don't hear any bumps etc through the cables.

My only complaint is the mic is a little far away from the headphones themselves meaning why I clip it to my T-shirt at the gym, it looks a bit un tidy.

Depends on the sound you're looking for really, I'm sure there are a lot of people who'd disagree. They're not my cup of tea, but there must be something about them to have made Dre $110 Million last year.

Lets not get too off topic though, do you have any headphone recommendations?

The vast majority of the public wouldn't know audio quality if it hit them over the head, as evidenced by extremely poor quality music download widely available (iTunes, Amazon, etc).

When looking for headphones, the optimal pair will have a flat frequency response and will have a very wide range. Any other variations is personal preference, I prefer the Audio Technicas.

The point is mostly mute as our phones do not have a high quality Wolfson DAC, so the audio is limited by the output.

Yeah, i guess you're buying the brand. I have the Audio-technica's ath-m50. They have excellent audio quality, especially for the price.

Which basically means you either have to buy CDs and/or vinyl LPs. In my location there's only a very limited selection of CDs that I like available, and LPs are not available at all. That's also rather subjective, how good the equipment is and how good your ears are IMO, e.g. if one a golden-eared hi-fi purist or not. I'm completely happy with high-bitrate MP3s, sounds fine to me.

Yo can access Amazon and on the left side they have a section for S3 accesories. They offer few sports options. Personally love Motorola S series if you want wireless headphones.

NOCS, Klipsch, Philips, Jays, NoiseHush all have these.
NOCS seems to be unique in offering a 3-button, like what apple has, but specifically for Android.

Here is the NOCS NS200H:

And with their own Noc Remote Control App available at Google Play

Anybody else have thoughts on this?

Any other and/or best 3-button or other hardware controller for wired headphone andor earbuds, inline mic?

fyi: The NOCS is $69, and the very email responsive customer representative said they are no longer making it, and only have a few left. So I got one.

Hrrumph. It seems like there is some unmet demand for and frustration for this, and with all the look-alike earbuds and headphones, one might hope that somebody -- hint, hint -- would do 3-button control as their unique special thing.

P.S. and by the way:

1. No, Apple does not have a patent on this. They have their own specific implementation (in the wiring and software), that makes their 3-button not compatible with Android. But it can be done for Android, as proven by the the several DIY versions I have seen online, and also the NOCS per above.

2. One real difficulty is that the Android anything goes no standardization environment, means that different manufacturers and different models of Android phones and tablets have different controller specs. Player App only partially overcomes this.

I just got some MEElectronics M6P-BK Sports - the version with a mic.

Not being an audiophile, they sound good to me, give reasonable noise isolation and are fairly comfortable.

The mic works well, though I'm a bit unclear on what the button does (I need to RTFM). I think it ends calls when you're on a call, but everyone has hung up before I've had a chance to test this.

When I'm playing music, it sometimes skips to the next track, sometimes stops or plays and sometimes triggers voice search. Probably something about the number of presses or how long you hold it but I don't really use it.

Haven't had them long enough to comment on durability: I've been through a variety of earphones from Shures to no-name cheapies and the more expensive they are, the quicker they seem to fail. These are mid-price, so we'll see .. or at least, I'll see.
