Default is Leather case with magnet bad for Android phones ?

Well earlier today i bought a Leather Flip Case and i just used it and ignore when i got home i show it to my parents and my dad says it's gonna destroy the cellphone's mechanism because it has a magnet on the top of the case. Is it really true ? Is it gonna harm my Phone ?
BTW my phone is LG Optimus L3 e400

I've been using a G-NOTE leather flip case with a Note since Xmas with no noticeable effects.

I have a case for my phone that has a magnet, have had it for 6 months. Phone's good :-)

If the magnet is strong enough to support your body weight you might...MIGHT...have an issue, otherwise don't worry about it. It actually takes a very strong magnet to affect circuitry now, even magnetic stripes on credit cards aren't any where near susceptible as they used to be.

I used magnetic closure cases on PDA's for years with no issues. A Smartphone is just a PDA with a radio chip inside.
