Default Can't upload a video recorded on the phone to YouTube - 1GB Limit?

Family gathering yesterday...I took a 3 minute video on the full settings and tried to upload it to YouTube from the phone and every time I try and upload it, even after reboots, I get a message popping up telling me that the file must be under 1GB. It is only 130MB...what gives? Lameness.

Same thing happened to me. I took a 4 minute video in 720p and it said the same thing. I just figured I was over the 1g max.

Sent from my HTC Evo 4G

WHy would you need to ge on WiFi though? You have a 4G network that you can't use? That is a serious flaw that needs to be corrected. The problem is not utube, it's the phone default. Anything over 3mb and it queues it for WiFi Connection.

Love the phone, just wondering why I'm paying for 4G if I can't really use it fully.

Took a video that is 155mb. Tried to upload it to Youtube over WiFi and didn't work. Didn't work on 3G either.

Anybody figure out how to solve this?

Still happening. Can anybody upload a 720p video file directly to You Tube via an Evo when the file size is greater than 100mb?

Please let me know and how.

Tried to upload a 13mb file to youtube directly from the Evo over wifi. On Saturday, no luck. Just kept getting an error and then it wanted to retry. Never ended up going through.

Tried again on Sunday and it went through the 1st time. Same file, same wifi, different day.

However, still can't get a file over 100mb to go through using the same settings. Anybody having the same problem or is there somebody out there who has gotten this to work consistently?

I'm having the same issue. Can't upload any video....spend a day getting my home network set up on the phone, but still won't go. Keep getting the message trying to send...will try again....and again....and again! Very frustrating. If things don't get better I'm sending it back and getting an iphone

Same here. Tried on multiple networks, without a result. The only difference is - I have the new HTC WildFire with Android 2.1. This feature is, at least for me, extremely important, as I need to upload some 'bigger' vids quite often, not always having a computer by my side. Anyone knows the solution? Or maybe an another program?

I've already tried sending a vid by 'that YouTube mobile mail feature' as well as using the upload engine like on a computer - but no luck here - they're too buggy and keep on cancelling the upload.

Adding to the pile. I can't upload videos that are clearly under 1 GB, (225 MB) although one that was 32.3 MB uploaded fine but it did require a Wi-Fi connection.

Not happy

Has anyone tried uploading over 4g yet? I can understand if Sprint did not let you upload videos over 3g, but there should not be a reason that they shut off 4g and wifi as options.

Also, has anyone tried uploading any large files to other websites besides youtube? It could be a sprint-to-youtube issue and may not apply to other websites.

It's a YouTube limitation. The "1GB" error is just a typo, it should say 100MB.

Have you tried uploading a video that is not 720p. Try a lower resolution.

Default Nothing

Well, I spent a total amount of about 1hr on the phone with sprint AND HTC to find out there not the brightest of folks. 1 HTC rep told me I must use the special youtube email address to upload youtube videos (i dont think he even realized there is a built in uploader for youtube in the Evo) and another rep told me to download the files to my computer and then upload them using my laptop... LAME, and another rep told me to clear my YouTube app cache but that didn't solve it either.

So for now, I have given up. The files DO actually upload but a 90mb file takes hours and hours to upload becuase it keeps changing the upload status to "will retry in 1 minute"

You must be on WIFI and if the video is small, around 5-10mb, the video uploads within 10 minutes, but for a HD 720dpi video, it will take 6+ hours or longer with this current BUG in the system. HTC needs to fix this.

My guess is that Sprint, not HTC is the problem here with not being able to upload videos over 1 mb via 3g or 4g. But isn't that what the $10 a month extra is for?
In any event, I wonder if this issue can be solved if the phone is rooted? Is there a way to change the settings with a rooted phone to allow large uploads via 3g or 4g?
I plan to root my phone shortly to get the hotspot without the $30 extra per month, it would be a bonus to be able to upload videos without waiting for WiFi or being throttled as to the upload speed.

I have uploaded 720 vids no issue as long as they are under 1gb. I know
wifi vs 3g is size Dependant.... and if it is over 1gb I have to drag it over to my desktop and upload it that way.

Unfortunately it doesn't take much to reach the size limits...I tried uploading a 4min 720 video last night and it wouldn't go....anything over a minute must use wifi...and anything under a min works fine over 3g.

who put the caps there? the youtube app or htc?

i dont think its sprint, i think it has to be youtube or the hardware itself because im having a tough time uploading 17MB alone freaking 17MB and over wifi every freaking 4-8 seconds it says "waiting retry 1minute", they really need to patch this problem or something.

Default HD Youtube Upload Help

Hey,

Was at a concert last night and shot some videos using camera setting "Video Quality - HD720P (1280X720)".

Tried to upload to youtube from my mobile and it says that it exceeds the 1GB allowed upload, therefore I put it onto my computer via my SD card and the file is only 400mb, and upon uploading to youtube is in 240p and looks terrible even though you can watch it on both the phone and computer in HD.

Please help with how I can upload these videos in HD.

Thanks,

Gerard

Is it in 240p because it's a new video? New youtube videos need to be processed on their end, so at first 240p will be your only option, then higher quality options will slowly appear.

I don't know how long that usually takes though.

Is there any alternative apps for uploading to youtube? This is one of the reasons why I got a stinking smart phone was to take videos and upload them direct, not to go through my laptop.

I have been using Youcast for sending/receiving video to friends for quite a while. There is no limitation of file size. Yes, you can also send video to youtube and facebook.
It's available at android market

Default got you tube upload to work

It has been a long while since I've encountered trouble with uploading my videos....but when i first got the phone i had trouble but resolved it by only having one google account on my phone...i believe those days are over because i now run with three google accounts on my phone...
but now I have had trouble with this since I took my video last night tried all evening to upload and again tonight...I read the post above this one and gave that a try. It didn't work exactly, but by me opening the you tube app I signed out and signed in then upload right from the you tube app by hitting menu on my phone..it hung on first try .., canceled and tried again..bam! It worked just like it is suppose to. I then upload another with no problem and it was a very fast upload

Default android prolem

I have two thunderbolts. One running stock and one rooted. The stock one will not upload videos (to YouTube or anywhere else) without WiFi. The one that's rooted and loaded with icecream sandwhich has no issues. It is something in the stock software. I'm on big red.
