Email Popup (for K-9 email): pops up a small box every time a new email is received
SMS Popup (as above, for text messages)
pure calendar widget
remember the milk (to do list; Astrid is a free alternative, and connects to the RTM servers, too)
Websms (with fishtext connector): sends cheap sms with fishtext
ContactsGroupU: shows contacts by group
a online radio
ColorNote
Fring (skype, messenger etc)
Quicksettings
EboBirthday
battery indicator (Darshan computing)
Profiles (egg 'n stone)
KeePassDroid (keepass password manager)
Multilang dictionary
Google translate

Switcher Widget is cool.
Screebl is amazing.
Apps Organizer is something I will not live without.
Pure Calendar Widget is a must have if you have a daily schedule to follow
The rest of my must haves seemed to be already mentioned several times.
Anyone know of an app like CoolIris? I really miss it (had an iPod touch before).
Tim

Etherial Dialpad - easily the most simple yet enthralling fun I've had in a while, possibly ever.
Thank you so much for pointing this out. Ethereal indeed. Most elegant. Entrancing. A perfect app for the second decade of the new millenium. I especially like the swarm.
It's been mentioned in passing, but I think it deserved a better post.
xScope GT (an alternative web browser) finally makes me feel like my browsing experience isn't worse than all my friends with iPhones.
It's come a long way recently. Reviews I read from not too long ago talk about its poor usability, but the author seems to be developing it fairly actively and I found it really excellent. It's the first paid app I've bought (and I was an early G1 buyer, so I've held out a long time until now).
The pin-zoom is so much better than pinch-zoom, and a few other features are much snappier than the other browsers I've used.

There are a bunch of free games I love including Bonsai Blast, Mancala, Drag Toilet Paper, Paper Toss, Slimeball, Simon Says, Memory, etc
B-Folders
Money Manager
Around Me (great app to find local anything)
My only question...I don't know if any of you have downloaded Photoshop Mobile...but I downloaded it and it's not letting me upload pics from my phone? It says there are none...does anyone else have this problem with this program?
Eris will be updating to 2.0 or 2.1 soon...we don't know what version it's going to launch but it will be updatable....not being sold much anymore but can be updated so it's not "dead tech"

Same problem ... I guess I'm glad it's not just my problem ... anyone have a solution? (Thanks.)

I believe this is because the Incredible stores pictures on the internal memory which Photoshop mobile cannot see. What I did is change my camera app to save pictures to my SD card and then Photoshop has no problem.
Hope this helps!

lol, good to know...I actually thought u did that to increase your post count
Go to the market on your phone, and search for them. It will give you a description for each one. Also you could go to www.AndroLib.com and do it from your desktop.
Hmmm... finally started buying up apps instead of just looking at the free ones and I have to say, I've been playing with BetterCut for 3-4 days, almost non-stop. I CAN'T STOP CUSTOMIZING!!!! And the worst is, I feel that this is a gateway app. Next it'll be LauncherPro Beta (seriously. I'm downloading it now) and then...... root.
::sigh::
Before you know it, I'll be selling my metal fillings for some extra Market cash.
And I have to give a shout to Math Alarm Clock, which wakes me up for work after I stay up way too late making themes : )
I've only had my Hero (just upgraded to Android 2.1) for less than a month.I'm too new to Android to have a favorite app yet. However I will agree that do like The Weather Channel and shop savvy though.

True, but I agree that if people are recommending an app, they could take ten seconds to briefly outline what it does, as quite often the name doesn't help.

+1
That's the point of this thread.
Not just to name apps... but tell everyone why you like them.

ShapeWriter - I admit it, I'm now a trace keyboard fanboy, and SW's algorithm for prediction is nearly flawless. A co-worker refused to believe it worked, so he tried a few words and almost got mad at how well it picked up what he meant.
HomePipe/Transdroid - I'm putting these together since they do basically the same thing: work with data on my home PC. The ability to download torrents to my home PC and move documents around is fantastic.
AppBrain - I don't know what I'd do without this. I -never- look stuff up on my phone unless I'm away from my laptop.
eBuddy - Sure, it isn't as full featured as Meebo and when the signal is weak it's perpetually awake in order to stay connected, but it's attractive, works fine, and when the signal's strong is a LOT easier on my battery.
SNESoid - "Hey Zach, what are you doing?" "Playin' Chrono Trigger on my phone, mofo!!!"
RadioTime - I adore this app. The ability to listen to talk radio from anywhere in the country is invaluable. I use Pandora for music, RadioTime for comedy/news/whatever.
PicSay Pro - This thing is just fun. I add speech bubbles and goofy effects to ALL my pictures now.

Reason: Forgot one!
Windows media center, winamp, VLC, can even be used for a game controller if you wanted to.
It's free, the server is free, and it WORKS, unlike 5 other apps I have used.
The only thing it does not do that I would like is presenting you with a list of multimedia options such as music, to be played through your computer, but the list shown on your phone. Such as if you were in another room, or you had your monitor/television turned off.
Gmote does this, but.......gmote does not support playlists.
This thing rules. The trackball is used like the arrow keys, so every function of windows media center I can get to.
