I only looked through the last 5 pages and didnt see aCar listed. I used to keep track of my milage and oil changes in a notebook, but it would always get wet from shoes and fall apart. aCar is great for trackign fill-ups, milage, and any service done on you car.

Looks like some sort of compass. It explaines all if you do a search for "c:geo" in marketplace.

I downloaded swipe via via from mediafire, and after I installed it and was trying to enable it in my settings, it said something about my screen not having the right resolution (I own a HTC Legend). Afterwards, i checked if it worked in my keyboard sms thingie, but no luck :'(

Is it not supported by the Legend?

My favorite, pretty common but I can't live without them:

1. Swype: freakin awesome, enough said
2.Handcent: MUCH better than messaging.
3.Shazam: great if you hear a song and don't know what it is. I also love how it saves what you tagged so you can download them later.
4.iMusic: so i can download what I found out about on Shazam
5.Maps: so I don't get lost
6.Phone: definitely a must for any phone I buy

I downloaded this the other day. It is used for Geocaching and, as far as I know, directly links to geocaching.com
You can find nearby caches and read the hints and comments on them.

I DLed GeoBeagle, too. But I don't appear to need it?

And I just rechecked and c:geo DOES connect directly to geocaching.com
I used it yesterday and it works great. You can log your visit and stuff.

-gTasks
-Total Control Software (intelligent designs)
-Sound Manager
-Photo & Video Vault
-Handcent

-xScope
-Diet & Food Tracker
-PDAnet
-Titanium Backup
-Spare Parts (Duh!)
-Barcode Scanner
-Personal Assistant
-AnyCut

Search for Swype HVGA. That should work. Swype requires you to download the version that matches your screen resolution. The most widely leaked version is the WVGA version, for screens with a resolution of 480x854. But the HTC Legend, as well as many other phones, have an HVGA screen (320x480).

Thumbs up

I have had the following on my phone for about a couple of months and have been really happy with them:
1. Google Maps (obviously!)
2. Shop savvy- this has really helped me save money. You can take a picture of the bar code for a product you are buying and it will do a search for the best price.
3. TalkToMe keyboard- recently renamed to Uber keyboard. This really helps with my typing. What I really like about this is the suggestions for the physical keyboard. The voice recognition has also improved with the 2.1 update since it uses the same recognition as the stock keyboard.
4. AK Notepad- This works as a great notepad for quick and short notes. The absence of a word processing application on the Droid makes this application even more useful. You can also put reminders for individual notes, and I really use that feature.
5. The Weather Channel- I like to be able to get the weather in the morning, and I really like the weather warnings. It seems to be a battery hog, though.

App Referrer- You can share your apps on your phone inseveral ways. You can generate a QR Code so someone can scan the code directly off the phone. You can share apps via SMS, email, and Twitter as well. The latest update has the option to create an image URL. When you open the app a list of your apps will show up. Simply long press the app you want to share, and choose how you want to share it. It is very simple, and yet very handy. This app does require Barcode Scanner app.

AppAware- For this app, all you do is install it, and see what apps people are installing/uninstalling. I've discovered apps I would have never thought about looking for with this app. You can also "contribute" to AppAware by sharing your installations, updates, and removals. You can also allow this app to tweet about the apps that you update, remove, or install. If you see that someone installed an app that you would like to try, simply click on it, and then click the button that says Open in Market. There are more features. You should definitely give it a go.

As a woman hoping to tone up, I LOOOOVE the calorie counter app. I can enter in everything I have eaten for the day and about how many calories I've burned. I can really see where all my calories go! It has a very complete search tool for food. I can look up nutritional info for dishes when I go out to eat. It helps me make a lot of good food choices. Love it!!

Can you use it with Wi-Fi only?
  • Create notes on your computer and send them to your phone
  • Send URLs, locations, phone numbers and email addresses to your phone
  • Send contacts to your phone contact list

This sounds great as I always have an app or two I want to share with fellow Droiders, I don't see app referrer in the market place.

Where can I get it?

NM-I found it, THANKS!

Talking the power of my pc in my droid eris

My favorite app has to be the phonemypc beta software, yes it is spelled like that. It allows me to access and control my computer in real time on my droid. I have even used it to play hulu.com movies on my browser, now if they could just me sound my world would be complete.

Setting Profiles - Like locale, but better, cheaper, nicer on the battery, doesn't slow the phone down too much.

I have some awesome profiles set up.
When I have 'Work' in my Google calendar, and I am in the city I work at, my phone goes into work mode. Turns on airplane mode, off wifi etc. Every 15 mins it turns airplane mode off for a minute to see if I still am in the city, and to receive any emails or texts.

When I finish work, either by leaving the building, or the calendar event running up, it goes into the default profile and the volume turns back up.

When I get into my hometown, every 15 minutes, my wifi turns on for one minute. If it manages to connect to my home wifi, the phone turns to home profile which keeps wifi on =]

However, if I charge my phone after 2am whilst at home, it assumes I'm in bed, brings up a night clock, mutes all notifications and dims the screen but doesn't time out. The alarm still goes off.

I looove this app.

My absolute favourite (in terms of cleverness) is Shazam. Absolutely brilliant at identifying music tracks. I have not encountered one single mistake yet.

Shuffletone 2.0 I love this thing. I never get tired of my ringtones now. Even can add just songs without having to ringdroid them. If you like the beginning of the song that is.

I looove GameBoid too. I can play all the kids' games on my droid!

I use AppBrain Market Sync for the phone at least once a day too.

"KNOCKING LIVE" turns your phone's video camera into a mobile webcam!

So now you can call someone (or not) and send them a "Knock" When they accept, they can see on their phone (once they download the app) everything you are showing them LIVE and in REAL TIME!

This works for Droid to Droid or Droid to iPhone. There's no mention on the Knocking website if it will work with Blackberry owners.

I tested it out and this app DOES in fact work! Its pretty awesome!

FYI: If your not on the phone with the person first, you will not hear any audio. You will just see the video that is being streamed to you. However, if you get the person on the phone first, then start the Knocking Live App, you will be able to continue talking to the person while watching their video or sending the video from your phone.

I first stumbled upon this app in the iTunes apps store and when I went on their website, I noticed it was available in the Android market!

Give it a whirl and see what you think! I think its pretty cool! Again its called "KNOCKING LIVE BETA"

Interesting app...but don't you need a forward facing camera for it? I can't imagine using this app with a phone that has the camera on the back...since you can record yourself but you won't be able to see the person on the screen O.o but I read some of the reviews, and some of the reviewers use it with their N1...interesting..XD

As a newcomer to Android I'm yet to experience all the apps you're talking about! One of the first apps I downloaded is called Easy PDF. I needed a tool to help me organise a few expenses whilst travelling. Also I needed to capture them, and send them to my work email. This one just did that. I'd tried a cheaper alternative before that, however, I couldn't use it on my Droid and uninstalled it. It'a a nice app overall, good graphics, simple and easy to use, it's worth checking it out.

I'm still new to the Android platform, just leaving the Pre I feel as if it's a breath of fresh air. I like my HERO and I'm glad for switching, I now know I'll love the EVO with its 2.1 all the better; however it would seem now that I've left Palm... Palm has all new apps coming out that really seem interesting and helpful.

http://www.precentral.net/nova-comes-webos-mayhem-ensues I miss the gameloft games and now they get NOVA... plus http://www.precentral.net/app-gallery/app-catalog/super-contacts really lets you arrange your contacts into tabs and groups.. and best of all lets you send mass text messages out per group. For instance, this past Easter I wanted to send out a mass text message to everyone, but didn't know what app to use or if it was possible.

Can anyone fill me in? Is it just the HERO that doesn't get gameloft or EA games... is there an app like the super contacts app on the Pre... is there a better one?!?! Thanks in advance guys

Documents to Go Full Version is currently on offer for $9.99 (usually $29.99), so I nabbed myself a copy. It goes back to regular price on the 2nd of May, I think.

I looked at that yesterday and never could figure out, what I have to do to my computer to access it off my computer.

How's your PhoneMyPC experience?

Thumbs up Screebl Pro Baby

I love that little app! Screebl Pro has made my Nexus One even better than it already was. I used the Lite version for a couple of weeks and my only complaint was that Screebl didn't work very well when laying on my right side. Contacted the dev to yell at him (I think his name is "Dave" from the intro video) and he said that Pro might work better for me. Thought he was feeding me a line of BS, but it actually did!

Good app, good dev, good times.

Dialer one. Excellent dialer and better than the stock one in every way, speed dial, T9 predictive contact, call log search, etc. Not sure if this is N1 specific but it rocks pretty hard.

How to pick just one....

Liking the AppBrain Market Sync. Its got a whole lot better organization for the apps than the on phone Market. Least I can surf that and find stuff I want and download it to the phone right afterwards.

I'm hating being on cupcake still because half the really interesting sounding apps don't show up in the Market for me. Like Mini Info. /sad

I have a question, what's the ease of use whe you want to work on calculations/formulas in an excel sheet on your phone if you don't have a Qwrty keyboad.

I'm not sure, Roze but you can always use the onscreen keyboard. I will go out on a limb and ask if there are any android phones that don't have a physical keyboard nor do they have a touch screen. If that is the case, I can't even imagine wanting to view an excel spreadheet let alone edit an equation in one.

@ 3devious: sorry, what I meant to say is if you don't have a physical qwrty keyboard.

I get the benefit of the physical keyboard, but the software keyboard does work. (I just tried it out... You can do it, but man it is annoying! I guess it would be OK to edit functions, but I would declare war on everything if I had to use it all the time.)

Can't find it in the market but I found some kind of beta version & installed but can't get past the tutorial (and only about 1/3 of the way through that from what I can tell). I'd really like to try it...can anyone tell me where to get it now?

Droid 2.1

Megush- Usually if you hit the "back" button (on the phone, not swype) it will exit the tutorial and allow you to type.

Last I knew, Swype beta was closed. There are leaked versions floating around though. I have a beta version, and I love it. I couldnt really use the virtual keyboard on my Droid, and the "real" keyboard wasnt any better. Swype has made me a texter.
