Help on Extracting Zip/Tgz files

hi,
anyone knows how to extract zip files/tgz files in Android?
i tried Astro File Manager but it does not work.

but it does not work when i tried to unzip files.
it gave me an error: 'unzip operation failed'

would anyone know y?

there might be a problem with your zip file. have you checked that you can unzip it on your computer? if it works, you could try copying the zip file to your phone once again, as it might have gotten corrupted during the transfer.

Good point, make sure the zip file works on your pc first. For example, there are some .zip downloads on the xda forums that do not work. The reason is because the replaced the '.apk' with '.zip', so after downloading you have to rename the file, not unzip it.

Also make sure that the zipped file contains a filetype that your android recognizes. For example, It might not recognize a '.dxf' filetype.
