This application enables you to create a 3D panorama.
It utilizes the orientation sensor to know the exact angle that the picture was taken.
Just like Google's Sky Map,
you can move your phone in a 3D space and see all the pictures as if your'e at the place you've shot them.
I'm the developer of this application and will be happy to hear your feedbacks.
BAsed on your 2 star reviews average below, I think you got your feedback

To be fair looking at the entry it is a mixture of 4/5 or 1/2 stars - seems to be a bit of a marmite thing going on i.e love it or hate it, or some hardware issues, so I can see why the OP is asking for feedback.
Just had a short play. Initial impressions are "what's going on???". I can see how some of the commenters moaned about a black screen if they had the phone pointing downwards. I suspect that the app is getting mixed reviews because some people "get it" and others (like me) don't. Some will persevere and others will give up.
I did find the instructions under Menu>More>Help but I need to really think about them to make them make sense. I haven't managed to complete a view yet - not sure therefore whether it is working or not.
So feedback:
1. Nice idea and very useful if you can get it to work
2. A bit sluggish - hopefully later versions will make it more responsive.
3. Not intuitive to make working and instructions could be improved. Suggest loading the "Help" screen on first run. Suggest adding Help to Menu button rather than under More
4. The little tip that flashes up about holding in portrait mode - suggest adding that the phone needs to be vertical as well as this is an obvious source of confusion in commenters.
5. Suggest rewriting help screen into easy to follow steps. If you have a website it might be worth going into more detail with pictures etc
Will continue to play though and comment again when I get one working.
Indeed, there are Hardware issues, But I can say its working well on HTC Desire \ Nexus.
Its hard for me to tell what are the problems based on 1 star rating without any meaningful feedback.
Posting your feedback on the Forum will help me improved it. People who rated 1 or 2 stars did that probably because hardware incompatibility.
As a developer it's hard to support all the various camera hardware out there, but this is the nature of the Android platform, if I was an iPhone developer it was much more easier for me, but I rather stick to Android, much more freedom.
Hi All,
Since my last post here, I've made lots of update and improvements
to "Photaf", and my rating are a little higher, 3.2 instead of 2.2
I've also integrated the ability to share your panorama in a public gallery,
at Photaf 3D Panorama.
So you can see what panoramas can be made with this app.
There is also a Pro version with no ads and a live wallpaper feature,
But try the free version first.
Thanks a lot for the constructive feedbacks, it help me make my App better,
so keep them coming
Poste after first try: it works flawless on my Desire! Will use it more because there is some need for it
Thx for this App,the idea and how you did it is nearly perfekt! Its great you cant change the level because its telling you go up or down, its fast and looks on the phone-display great!
More later

Reason: add some infos
I'm glad to hear you liked it.
It will be great if you could upload your Panoramas to share with us
My development phone is also HTC Desire, so "Photaf" should work best for it.
I'm always trying to support as much devices as I can,
so if anyone encounter any problems with his device, give me a note.

works well on my Eris as far as I can tell. This actually works pretty well considering this is just a phone. Will be interesting to try out if I go any where interesting like the Grand Canyon. Maybe the beach would be nice. But this is one of those apps that you just say...wow, the apps that people can come up with. You devs are amazing. Here is a panorama I took at work. Certainly not perfect but not bad for the first time.
Nice panoramas!
For the best results I recommend you to read the tips for making better panoramas.
On the next versions I'll work on further improving the stitching algorithm,
so it will equalize the exposure of the pictures, thus making the blending more pleasant to the eye. I'm also planning on adding geotaging and landscape camera mode.

Your phone's camera picture quality is excellent too.

Also thank you for buying, more sales will help me improve this app,

The Captivate has a panorama setting, how does this differ? The gallery panoramas are awesome - Arni01, do you have a link to your specific garden photo? I love gardens, I looked through about 21 pages but gave up

If you click on the little icon over your photo in the gallery, it will pull up a page with just your specific picture and number.
Thats the one sorry i named it in german for my friends over in germany
The camera is the build in of my Desire, but cleaned the lens carefully before i did this picture but have to say the lens cover is crap... will probably remove it and protect the lens with a film or something!!
@ obg1 dont give up your day job but buy a nice drink from my money and have it while you make this nice app perfect cheers!!
Add a picture with the pro version looks even more nice and think its faster stitching(?) found the compass mode to view the pic on your mobile, its funny to turn around to see the panorama :-D
@reinbeau look as well here: http://www.photaf.com/index.php?PanoramaId=503

I hear ya, Arni, I don't have time to take care of my garden - I'll take a panorama with the program when I get it and post it up there for you to see.

I really want this to work... but it doesn't seem to work in Auto mode. I get the beep and wait for it to snap the shot, then move the phone in the direction the arrow is pointing. But it never beeps again.
If I don't use auto, it will stitch the shot (though I never hear a beep. Should I?). There was some ghosting on a couple of frame, but I just did a quick test and my technique may need to improve.

Hi, I think you don't hear the beep, because there might be a problem with your phone's compass. Maybe you need to calibrate it.
I had this problem once, what I did was, while in camera taking mode (In Photaf) I moved the phone in an eight figure:
But nice view i agree
but the same probs i have till now.. the first and the last pic is not perfect stiched! but anyway, i like this app and its really helpful to me in the last view weeks!! as well nice to share views with friends and make them jealous

Is there any way to set the resolution of the photos higher?
My panoramas are a bit fuzzy, they look lower res than the
Photos that I take with the camera app???
Is this a side effect of the stitching process?
It would be great If we could get the panoramas a bit higher res.

great app btw thanks.
You can make sure to check the Autofocus in the settings.
It can help give your more sharper pictures.
I can increase the resolution, but it will make the stitching process much longer, and there might be a memory problem on some devices.
Since this is Android and I need to support high and low end devices, it's hard to make an app that will work best on all of them
I will consider adding a high-res mode in the application settings, that will be disabled by default.

i'm looking forward to see the high-res. with a high res additional function, your app will be perfect

great app! i also really want that option to take highres pics and one thing i thought would be nice is about sharing! now i can share the panorama to facebook and send it via bluetooth but is there a way to share the whole flash of the panorama? i mean so my friends could see it on facebook and look around in my photo like in Photaf site? if i don´t want to send it on a photaf site for everyone to see it? i don´t know if u even can share flash content in facebook but maybe as a link to my personal photaf profile?
syrjajo,
I'm working on adding an optional HD mode for Photaf.
It will be optional because some devices aren't strong enough to handle Hi-Res images and stitching time will take longer to complete.
unfortunately Facebook doesn't allow embedding flash at their site, but I'm working on a Facebook App that will integrate better with Facebook.
I'm also planing on integrating it better with Facebook, so you can upload panorama using your Facebook account and view and delete only your panoramas.
it's very promising if you do it carefully it is definitely usable.
the problem is sharing the panoramas with people, wish it would just spit out a media link so you could embed onto forums, emails, websites, etc. this could be a feature for the paid version as the photos would have to be hosted somewhere?
i dunno, but top work!

Some users had issues with it on the WildFire,
But there were users who had no problems with it.
Maybe it depends on the Rom they are using.
Try it and let me know if there are problem, I don't have this device
for testing so I'll be happy if users can help me by sending logs.
Can someone help me ? when i open up the app and click ''create'' it asks for the file name but no matter what i enter it says ''file name not valid'' what do i do ? some1 please help tanks
I'm trying this now. Waiting for the program to stitch the images... It's taken 10 minutes so far, at 53%, i guess stitching 12 photos is hard? Lmao. Love the auto picture though! Will reply back with results.
Hi there, I think this App is brilliant. Good Job.
A few probs though on stitching on one of the photos but I think that is partly my fault and the sound levels are a bit loud but other than that a very good job and i am looking forward to the updates. Hey I might even buy the pro version

I have the same problem! When I click the Create Panorama button, I get the following message:
Error
Cannot create file, make sure to use a valid file name
The default file name does not even work. A single letter does not work. Does it require an SD card to be installed first? I have Photaf installed on a Verizon HTC Incredible. Android 2.2. I have 4.50 GB of free internal memory. I have not been able to use the app at all, which is sad because it looked pretty cool.

Photaf requires an SD card to save the images. Sometimes if you device is connected to your computer via the usb cable, the SD card becomes unavailable.
