Steak Timer lets you choose the thickness of your steak, the desired doneness and will tell you the total cooking time and what the internal temperature of the steak should be when it is done.
When you hit start timer, it will tell you how long for the first side, then after you confirm you flipped the steak how long for the second side. You can also minimize the program by using the HOME button, and Steak Timer will send out a notification to either flip the steak or if it's finished. This way you don't have to have the app open for 10 min to cook the steak, you can do other stuff while you are waiting.
Cooking a steak in my mind should be a truly primal act of tossing a piece of flesh on an open fire.

primal is eating the steak, cooking them is a well refined process, that if done well, makes the important part better...
even the temperature is very important... the flavor itself comes from the temperature being raised to the correct level within a short period of time. It takes a real man to apply the methods discovered and refined over 1000's of years to something to maximize a very primal experience

FAIL! there is no input for the temperature of the grill, or pan. you can't calculate the cooking time of a steak without those variables. besides a t-bone cooks different than a filet, which is different than a flank, which is different than a flat iron. Is it pan seared, or broiled, or roasted?
Time and thickness are only two of the variable, is the steak graded prime, choice, or is it select or ungraded? How much sinue is in the cut?
Man you guys are harsh. Cameo has only just started working on the app. I am the one who requested the app. I do know how to cook a steak the way I like it. But when I am having a party and am cooking steaks for others, I thought it would be nice to have a timer. I am sure more features are coming, give cameo some time to evolve his app.

I'm with the others....steak is really not that hard to cook. And, there's way too many variations on cuts of meat, different cows, starting temp of the meat etc, etc. No way any new "features" can help you cook steak properly.

can an app be useful without being perfect? how about fun to mess with? try the app, see if it's got any merit. the simple fact is you can apply all the variables you'd like to cooking, steak is about the time and temp. ask RUTHS CHRIS
