Can you play .FLV (Flash) files offline with Flash 10.1 plugin?
I know Flash 10.1 is technically a browser plugin but has anyone figured out a way to play .FLV files (offline)? Tried opening a .FLV file through Estrongs and then selecting the video option but it would not play.
I would say use google to find out if there are any players that play FLV files on the android. If not then you will need to use a converter videos and music.
I use Rockplayer, it works perfectly and plays .flv .avi .3gp etc... in fact I haven't found anything it won't play.
I bought it from the app market but i'm sure there is a free version there too if you search.
I don't bother buying many full version apps unless they perform exceptionally well and I use them every day. This is true of Rockplayer.
My question to you is - How are you saving embedded flv's from webpages to your device ? It's my holy grail to figure that one out. There are a ton of vids I want to save.
So far i've only found an app to save and download youtube vids, which is OK, but there are other vids elsewhere .....
Thanks everyone for your help but I found a site that makes my question a moot point. The site is "www.tubeminator.com" that unlike the other video download sites does not require Java. I just tried it on my Droid and was able to download a short clip from Vimeo (it also supports Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Break, Megavideo, a bunch of porn sites and the list goes on). The best part is that it will convert it to MP4, FLV, AVI, 3GP, MOV and MP3 on the fly (and you can crop the video to your liking and select resolution and AV quality). Downside is you have to wait for the site to download the video then convert it before you can download it.
Sounds too good to be true and the site probably won't last but in the meantime take advantage of it will you can. Prior to this (like this morning when I started this thread!) I was using "keepvid.com" and "savevid.com" from my desktop and sending it to my phone (I use drop.io). Tubeminator supports much more sites and lets me do it straight from my phone.
Nice find @ssummer. I just tried it and it is pretty good. I agree however, that it may be there for eternity or just for a few weeks as it is with these sites.
Use This Free software it's very useful
