Default Instant Messaging Preferences

Why is Google Talk missing from Instant Messaging Preferences? Thanks for adding, if possible.

I would say that it is not there because GV is not just and IM it is more phone-centric

I have moved this thread to the Applications forum.

Not Google Voice..."GOOGLE TALK". You have ICQ, AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, etc. in the user preferences but you do not have Google Talk, which is the same thing and has nothing to do with a phone. It's part of Gmail and since Android is Google's OS it seems only right that you'd at least have their IM client listed.

He is talking about in the IM options on the forum here. Under "edit details" optional information. (see attached)

Since this is a android board, and android is powered by google, then we should have a google talk field, you would think.

and to answer the question, the messengers that are available now are built into vbulletin. they have been for many verisions.

Gtalk can be added with a little effort from an admin.

fwiw, THIS is the link to the mod for vB. I realize it is for version 3.5.x but i am almost positive is will work here.
