Post Best file manager?

There are a great many file managers available for android, and new ones appear frequently. For instance, a real innovative one (with drag-and-drop, continuous zoom in all view, advanced multi-touch support and much more unique features) is ScaliCommander

If you have tried some file managers, which do you like most and why?

OI File Manager, far better than Astro, in my opinion, it just seems so much faster then any other file manager...and its free, without any ads.
Peace.

I'm partial to Linda.

I've tried out a few but can't really remember what in particular bugged me about the others. I guess I just found Linda to be the most intuitive to use, with the cleanest and most pleasing UI.

What about Astro in particular does everyone love so much?

Post new version of ScaliCommander

iTunes-like audio playback for folders and playlists, seek without screech, full featured music player in the next version very soon now!

already usable as folder-based music player (also the free trial version!), edit playlists with drag-and-drop, multi-select while playing

support for headset controls (double-click for next song, long-click for previous one), background playback with status bar notification, pause at incoming calls and headset unplug

see the website for instructions!

currently only file and folder names are searched, but I will soon make the contents of some document-types like Word Documents (and also metadata of media files) searchable, too. You can count on it.

You just convinced me to try out your app.

EDIT - just noticed it's pay only. What about a free/ad-supported version? Also, does this file manager have root access like Root Explorer?

There's a trial version, see the website, at the bottom

no root access yet (though you can browse "normal" files on the internal storage)

How soon do you think?

I've found a workaround program and am considering paying for the full version... However, that other program forces me to save my files as PDFs and load them onto an internet server. So, not ideal.

If you can find a way to easily search any folder of Word Documents for the contents therein, you'd make a paying customer out of me.

Post new version of ScaliCommander

Highly improved new version with iTunes-like music-player functionality
  • full support for the android music-library: edit playlists with drag-and-drop, sort songs by name/album/artist/year, browse albums in "Cover Flow"
  • integration of music library and file system: drag songs from folder to library-playlist, open songs from library in file system...
  • options to select what details to show: icons, extensions, size, permissions, time modified (also as "ago")
  • improved drag-and-drop
  • many fixes and improvements

The Android Soul said that we're the best file manager for Android platform.. Here are the reviews:

File Expert is really an awesome android app with boot loads of features, maybe capable enough to replace anything from 3 to 5 apps you use currently, and guess what, still adding features you hadn’t seen/used earlier. Must Have, sure. It’s the best file manager, by any measure - The Android Soul reviews

File Expert Android App: Best File Manager on Android! | TheAndroidSoul

It might seem like I am advertising this but it really is quite a good application I would recommend it to all Android users. Overall a great app and I give this rating due to the many features it has. - YeahthatApp Review

Root Explorer isn't on the list - that's my favorite.

Why? It isn't the same as Root Explorer. It's obvious from the responses here Root Explorer is the most popular, but it isn't in the poll ??

SpeedSoft makes Root Explorer.

But yeah, Root Explorer is absolutely essential for anyone who's rooted. Typically one of the very first apps I download on any new flash.

Ah, I see - but really, use the name people are going to recognize. Root Explorer should be the name, not SpeedSoft Whatever the heck is up there!

Can you please edit your poll and fix the name of Root Explorer? No one knows it under the name SpeedSoft.

I use Bluetooth File Transfer, as it has a built in file manager which does everything I need to be able to do.

Androzip does not display the file names if my language font is set when I view zip file contents. (only in view zip file. file browsing shows the font as it should).
Does anyone know workaround?
