Thanks for this. Think I'll stick with GDE until this matures.

I'll give it a shot since I've tried all of the other ones. So far, still using GDE, but once I get to play with this one a little I'll give my opinion.

Can you give search words? Is this by Andrew Kachaniwsky? I get Home "Demo Application. Broken functionality at the moment. Please do not comment"

Looks nice, but boy, it wants access to your entire device, including all contact data. I have no desire to provide all my contacts info for a cool home app.

Do any other home replacements loop the home screens like Home++? I've never heard it mentioned anywhere and thought it seemed like an obvious, intuitive feature to include. For this small fact alone, I'm definitely giving it a thorough look.

Any home replacement will want access to the entire device. the more features something has, the more access it will need.

And this looks pretty nice, but I'll stick to GDE for now.

I like the layout and options in GDE better, but after playing with this one, I noticed that it's damn fast. I might stick with it for a bit just for that reason.

A lot of people say they get lag with GDE, other than the occasional lag time when I go to the home screen (via the home button), it works great for me...

I must admit I really like this. I am glad I ahvent yet bought GDE because this is very smooth. And I like the bar on the bottom.

I wouldn't say GDE really "lags", it's just noticeably slower to transition than this one. With only 3 screens, GDE was very, very fast, but I use 4, and on my device, I definitely notice not-so-smooth transitions. Home++ has 4 screens for me right now and I haven't noticed a bit of slowdown, stuttering or lag.

Still, I like GDE's layout and options better. I can't decide which one to stick with.

This is really nice! The little bubble explanation is the new notification I guess yet it does not turn red or do anything. I have to keep checking to see if I have anything. I hear the sound but we loose the notification bar up top so the one on the bottom needs to turn red or do something! Also few apps dont like it like handsent SMS the widget does a force close/wait. Be nice if it had the weather widget in the widget select like the clock. I use weather bug which is fine, but looks a lot like HTC sense UI so finish it! Few bugs and some polish be sweet!! Its Beta so what do I expect! Love it though. Get that notification bubble at the bottom to do somethng!!!

i think they should just keep the bar at the top...i like the stock home screen with everything but only 3 screens...i just want more screens...i dont need all these stupid animations that just slow down the device...i like the sidebars like pandahome has...the speed of home++ and having 4 screens....why cant anyone just make a SIMPLE home replacement.

I'm looking for the same thing, just the ability to to add more home screens, the rest I'll keep.

So far, I have seen 4 home screens on Home++. However, it is not playing nicely with widgets.

AccuWeather widget no longer allows scrolling from current view to forecast view (and it is broken on hte original home screen too). Uninstallign Home++ makes it work.

Other widgets would not work until I power cycled the phone. Accuweather is still not working.

This all I really need too...I just want to be able to add screens to the stock Android...Maybe Google/Motorola can put it in a software update soon!

Here is the info/support page for anybody interested. Its looking pretty good imo. But I am not one of these people trying to find a home replacement to "go with". I want them all and I want to switch between them whenever I feel like it, there is no "1" that I am going to stick with.

I just started having massive issues with Home++:

After dialing, system pauses for a couple of seconds, and then takes me back to a non-interactive home screen. If I press the home screen button, then it becomes interactive.

It keeps returning to black like a lot of other home replacement apps do when exiting an app....

I thought it had b0rked my phone completely b/c nothing was working, not even ATM - until I finally got into the settings and removed it as the default home app, then went to the native home and opened ATM from there to kill all running apps and processes.

Looks like I am on a hunt for the AM app that allows Amex to be used for foreign currency to try out GDE.

Really liking this one. 4 screens is exactly enough for my purposes
I just need to find a wallpaper that will look good on the 4th screen now...

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous sentiment; being able to customize the icons on the bottom dock will make this my default.

Interesting what you say there... kinda like "scenes" from the Sense UI. I might do something like that.

I love Home++ !!!

Very well thought out in terms of functionality. The long presses that lead you to options menus, and the long hold over the trash opening the Uninstall options are fantastic ideas. I find this to be a much better home replacement than Pandahome, simply because it's offering improved functionality, not just appearance tweaks.

However, Pandahome does do a few things well that Home++ does not seem to have the answer for.

1. More than 4 screens. Not a deal breaker, but still a fact.
2. The app sidebars (drawers) on Pandahome are a PHENOMENAL idea.
3. No phone shortcut/menu on the bottom taskbar of Home++? A menu option for a phone speeddial would make Home++ a markedly improved product. Lack of speeddial has been a huge complaint from Droid owners, and a menu button just like the Browser Favorites Star would be incredible.
4. The kinks aren't all worked out yet. Does anyone else have half of the bottom menu bar get cut off from time to time? Like half of the bar is below the screen?
5. Home screen rotation to landscape mode. Pandahome rotates your desktop without having to open up the physical keyboard. This is another nice touch that all home replacements should consider for the droid.

All in all though, I like Home++ far more than any of the other home replacement apps I have tried.

dxtop did nothing for me.
Pandahome was the best I found before Home++
Home++ has just take the lead.

Although I must admit, I have not tried GDE (mostly because I felt there was no need to buy a home replacement app when Pandahome was offering so much for free).

Well done on designing Home++. I look forward to future updates. The functionality and shortcuts are fantastic!!

*EDIT*
Holy crap, the task bar (Power Strip) slides to the left providing more options. How did I miss that?

Really liking Home++ so far. Once I figured out how to get the notification bar back, it's really serving me well.

From my experience, it is the most responsive of all the ones I've tried. PandaHome just caused too much lag for my tastes, but this has been VERY smooth so far.

Looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Will this app hide app tray icons? That's the reason I'm running Pandahome for now. I only have 4 home screens (seems to get really unstable at 5 or above home pages) so this app would work as long as I could hide unused app tray icons.

Yea I'm liking this better than GDE and Panda. Panda looks a little to comical, not very professional looking.

Comical? You do realize that you can change the icons back to original and the wallpaper to whatever you want, right?

Care to elaborate? If you set the icons back to original and wallpaper to whatever you want then it looks the same other than having more home pages if you so choose.

Dude I'm giving my opinion on what I like and think. Not here to debate you.

Not much to debate since the primary requirement to a debate is to have to sides. Your stance is that it looks comical when with a simple adjustment of the settings it looks the same. It seems to me you installed, didn't bother to test fully and are now reporting your 'findings' as if it were fact and the simple fact is you're wrong and don't want to admit it.

I'm not a fanboy just don't like stubborn people who won't admit they're wrong when it's pretty obvious and instead feel the need to spark some internet face-saving discussion. Someone spent a lot of time on that app and if you can't put 30 seconds into testing then don't argue with those that have. It's offensive and makes you look foolish.

First learn to use correct grammar "Not much to debate since the primary requirement to a debate is to have (two) to sides." Second I gave my opinion, never once did I report this as fact. If you disagree then so be it but get off my d..k and get a life dude. I’ve tested Pandahome and it’s a little to busy for me, I like the clean and simplistic look of this app.

I think it's readily apparent from my posts that I have a pretty firm grasp of the English language and it's application. I know the difference between to, too and two and the use of 'to' there was a simple typo. Thanks for catching it. Way to dissect my post until you found a mistake to somehow try to make yourself look better than. Congratulations! (and you tell me to get a life)

Now, back to the topic at hand. Once again you claim you tested Pandahome yet you continue to drive home the fact that it's too busy.... how so? All I asked for was specific reasons. If you truly tested it in depth then it would seem to me that this is a simple question to answer yet here we are... several posts later and you've managed to spark an internet debate because you can't admit you didn't give it a fair chance and don't even know what we're talking about. It's users like you who do nothing to help the community and post to pad your post count or hear yourself talk.

Now, if we can end this personal attack fest and get to the topic at hand which is home page apps I'm sure the rest of the members here would appreciate it. So you can answer my question or not but I choose not to respond to any more of your posts that attack me personally.

GDE is a completely different home replacement than the one discussed in this thread, but definitely worth checking out if you havent yet.

A search for Home++ yields 2 results the first of which being the app you are looking for. Or scan the barcode!

Home++ needs work. Its a little slow when switching landscape to portrait when you have widgets open. The slowness makes it unusable. Also, notification bar doesnt show, which I like to always see. Holding notification on the dock brings it back, but takes away from its looks. Id recommend a themes notification widget that mimics the top bar that you can move anywhere.
