Default Shopkick - Earn Gift Cards By Shopping!

The app is called shopkick and it's awesome. You earn kickbucks by just walking into different locations. You can also earn even more points by scanning items. You can then redeem them for several different items! Also the app offers special deals to the different stores that you otherwise wouldn't be able to get.

Here's just a small sample of some of the places. Best buy, Macy's, Target, several grocery stores, gas stations, 7-11 and many many more!

If you do sign up please use my name giraffe751... we both get 100 kickbucks!!!

Fyi... many people will lie and say you can get hundreds of thousands of points by using their code but it's a lie. You can only get 100.

Oh and they have contests too to win even more!!!

Also there are secret bonuses at select stores. Once all of the pieces are found you get a special prize!!!

So far I have enough points for a $15 gift card and I've only been signed up for a few days and hardly done anything!

Happy Shopping!

I guess you figured the more places you posted this, this more you could spam your referral code?

Because I posted it in two spots? I didn't know that was considered spamming.

New member, six posts all about the same thing. I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

No I posted hoping to get others to sign up so I would have someone to talk with about the app. If I get referrals then great and if I don't I still want people to talk with so we can all get tips and tricks

Ok, then how about you remove your referral code from your posts?

Well, I did find this message because I was hoping to hear from someone else who has this app. I downloaded it this morning, and it seems to be pretty neat. However, I used a promo code that one of the reviewers said would earn me 100 points and no, I only got 25 - which is what others would get if they used my promo code. So, I'm a little skeptical of people who say their code earns 100 points.

I would like to hear from others who have used this app - I have already earned 85 points just by clicking - haven't left my house or bought anything yet. Did you redeem your points yet and how well did that process work?

This is a legitimate app available from the Market with a referral system that's really no different from that used by Dropbox, with both parties benefiting equally.

With that in mind, I've amended the thread title to include the app's name, to make it easily found in searches. A single post per member containing a referral code is acceptable, but anything more will be considered spam and subject to action as per forum rules. Questions about or tips on using the app should also be posted here so that users can help each other get the most from it, in line with AF policy.

Have fun, happy shopping and good luck!

Thanks for the clarification.
I was very excited by this app after I downloaded it because I was able to accumulate points without even leaving my house! However I was a little confused. First, I received a promo code that would give me and the other person 25 points when someone used it. A reviewer on the market said to use his for 100 points but when I entered it I only got 25. I assumed he was just lying in order to get people to use his code (and other users were also saying that claims over 25 were not true) but today I got a message that my code is worth 50 points. This is a limited time offer so I assume that it will go back down but may go up to 100. So those who say their code is worth more than 25 are not necessarily lying, but they need to tell people when it goes back down.

I went out shopping and was very excited about earning more points by going into the stores at the mall but I got no more than I had received already by just clicking the bubbles. I was also disappointed that Macys want even listed. It actually listed Hechts which went out of business here years ago. However today I realized that the walk-in points are only earned for stores that have points in the little bubble on the right. Also, I think the store has to have the system physically installed for walk-in points. I will see whether I can get walk-ins when I am in town in DC on Monday. Right now it's limited to a few cities, dc being one of them.

I wasn't in any store where I could scan something for extra points. One of the items that can be scanned is Turbo Tax. It says you have to register at Best Buy in order to scan it. I bought it from Costco and when I scanned it, it wouldn't recognize it. The UPC label is a stick-on, not printed on the box, so I'm guessing that the Costco label is not the same as Best Buy.

Since I'm allowed to mention it one time, my promo code is bee2423.

I've had it downloaded for a week, but I haven't really gone anywhere or had it open. I don't live in a coastal city, so I don't know of how much use it will be, but I'm willing to give it a shot. I think I saw an article on it on some major tech blog; I forget which now.

You don't actually have to go anywhere to earn points. Just open it and click all the bubbles. Even if the bubbles don't give you points immediately you will get level increases that raise your potential for points.

One thing I want more info about is how donating to causes works. Some of them tell you if you donate x amount you'll provide a meal for example, but others don't give those details and it's not clear at all how your donation is used.

Shopkick is a spam machine. They continuously spam dozens, even hundreds, of other apps on the Market. I find them in the comments of completely unrelated apps, even games.

I'm sure some users will constantly spam in order to get people to use their promo code. But actually I had not seen anyone mention it before I came across it in the market and decided to download it.

I just ventured forth on my first "treasure hunt" - scanning products to earn kickbucks. I went to Best Buy. The first thing I scanned was some printer cartridges, and that worked right away, for 10 points. But then, there were several other printer cartridges to scan, I couldn't get any of them to work. There was one that I knew was definitely the same one pictured, but it said it wasn't the correct match. I finally got one more set to work. Then I tried to go for the 25 points with printers. They had two models to scan but I wasn't quite sure which of the ones in the store were the correct ones. I tried to scan the barcodes on the shelf labels but couldn't get any of them to match. Then it occurred to me that I should probably be scanning the barcodes on the product box itself but was having a hard time finding one that seemed to be a match. So I gave up on that and went searching for some other product. One was a bluetooth earpiece - I searched the display where all the bluetooth headsets were located, but couldn't find that one. I finally asked someone and he managed to find it. I scanned that, and it worked - another 20 points! Then I saw a display with one of the printers I thought could be a match. The boxes were readily accessible. I first scanned what I thought was their barcarde, a stick-on label, but no match. Then I saw a bunch of barcodes on the box itself, and figured that the product code was the squarer looking one. That was the one.

Well, I didn't get everything, but managed to bring my points total to over 200, which was my goal for now. It was a bit of a time waster and the sales people were probably wondering what I was doing. But I guess it's all right. I told the salesperson whom I asked for help that it was kind of a treasure hunt.
