Default Where are background images stored?

Hey Guys,

When you browse the web and select a picture to be your background where does that pic get saved? I've had one on there for a while and want to change it but don't want to loose the existing pic and for the life of me can't find it on the SD card or phone using OI File Manager. Anyone know where the file got saved when you do that?

There should be a file in your SD card for the things you download. You can find file managers that'll let you peruse said card in the market.

Regarding your current wallpaper, try navigating to a blank spot (as in, no icons) and long-pressing on the current wallpaper. This should cause as menu to popup; take the option for wallpapers. You should be able to view the wallpapers that came with your phone. If the one you currently have is listed there, you'll know where to find it later.

As stated above I do have a file manager installed and I have searched the SD card. I cannot find it.

That is not true on the EVO. This is my only Android phone I've ever had so not sure if that works on others or not. Long pressing a blank spot on the wallpaper causes it to jump to the screen that says "add a widget, shortcut" etc. Not the menu that lets you have access to wallpapers.
I did however navigate to Settings, Personalize, and desktop wallpapers and browsed in there to see if the wallpaper I had selected from the internet web browser was in that list and it is not.

Sorry, missed that part. Are you using the stock web browser? If you hit menu, then more, there should be an option to view your downloads. If that option doesn't appear for you, then you might want to try your luck in an Evo forum (I'm running something from Motorola), and they'll be more familiar with HTC's tweaks

Yes stock web browser. I checked the downloads option in the browser and it only shows files you actually downloaded. If you just browse a picture online and then long press it so a menu comes up and select "make wallpaper" it does not include that pic in your downloads.

I also browsed the SD card and checked all the sub folders such as "Downloads" and "download", "media" and all of them. No luck. Not sure where it puts that pic.

Thanks for trying though. I will try the evo forums too like you suggested and see if anyone has an idea.

Personally, I have a Wallpapers folder on my SD card and either download or drag and drop (while mounted) wallpapers there. Makes it much easier to re-use them in the future IMO. Doesn't really help you with your prior wallpapers at this point though.

Makes sense and is a good strategy for the future. Still curious as to where the current wall paper is stored on the phone

Why don't you find it again (on whatever website you found it on) if that's possible / if you remember. Then actually save it this time.

I wasn't sure I'd ever find it again but I did manage to. So yes I have the pic saved now finally. It still baffles me as to where Android saved it and I'd still like to know.
