I've been thinking of developing apps for Android, but because there are so many different models, I'm not sure how the display and formatting will be. Also, can you earn good money from ads alone?
I just began developing for iphone, but I'm seriously thinking of developing android apps as well. Any advice?
Its tough when everyone and their cousins are making apps!!
If you got buy in from some company such as a book store (B & N, Amazon, etc) or biz, then you would have a bit of a captive market, especially if exclusive (only for Kindles, or Nook, or ....).
Even if superior, the app would have to be worth changing from existing, otherwise you must create a new unique thing app.
Maybe a game app is the easiest to be original but lots of $$, who knows, as P2P reduces the chances.
But the truth is that only few will make a living from app sells, but many will further the quality of all apps, and increase user expectations.
Worth is always highly subjective. Obviously there are devs that find it to be worthwhile or we wouldn't have much of a market. That said, there are also devs that don't find it to be worthwhile if you just compare the iOS Market to the Android Market. No one can tell you what you will or will not find to be worthwhile.

Try asking this in developer forum. As for the money, define "good" and realize that there are a number of variables that will affect whether or not you can achieve what you consider to be good.

I think its worth it to develop for android. I'm pretty sure android numbers have been on the rise for quite some time. Also, plenty of people buy from the market. And there are a ton of apps that are unavailable even on a pirate site.
