Default Backing up my HTC

Hi All,

I an now starting to make more use of my HTC Desire HD (2.2) & my list of contacts is starting to increase (currently saved to phone). I am just wondering if there is a recommended app for backing up everything to SD card with facility to copy across to my PC. I have looked at Titanium backup but not sure if this is just for rooted phones (mine isn't rooted) - also only seems to be paid version on market - how do I try before purchasing.

Many thks, John

You can save vCards and CSV backups of contacts with my app Listables (link in sig). However my app is not a complete backup solution, just an extra way to make a copy in case you dont have a backup.

Google will also backup your contacts (and apps) to your gmail account if you allow it to sync and make sure you enable backup under settings > privacy (I think).

I use "SMS Backup & Restore" also, If you're looking for something to back those up and I like it a lot. I haven't tried any of those paid "complete backup solutions" though so can't really say if they are all that good but I dont think they are necessary really but some people like them.

Hope that helps.

Thks alostpacket. I have just downloaded & are evaluating mybackup which seems to do all I want. Basically, create a backup of contacts to SD (which I can then copy to PC) - I also have option to restore if need be. I wont use the online account capability.

Thks again, John

Google has an 'export contacts' function too on the Google Mail website.

Whilst you may not want to use the online account capability, if you've registered your google account, as you have to do when accessing the market, then you are probably already using it. Check https://mail.google.com/mail

Why bother backing up to an SD card/hard drive that can be corrupted or infected w/ a virus later? Sync all calendar and contacts to Google or Yahoo (you can do so via Settings> Accounts & Sync) then click the Sync button on either Google or Yahoo account (you'll need to set up your email account on your phone first)

Look at SpriteMobile Backup. With a free DropBox account, you can back up contacts, SMS/MMS messages, apps, pix, videos, settings, lots of stuff! I don't back up pix or videos, so my backups, even with 500+ contacts, are only 10-20MB or so. I have it set up for a 1AM daily schedule. It just happens, I don't even think about. I have already used it several times to recover my SMS messages.

It's on Market.
