Default Google navigation in Middle east

Is there any how to activate google voice turn by turn navigation here in middle east region?
My phone milestone 2.1 having built in google maps 4. last week I update google maps 5.0 from non market apk because my market was not detecting any update for maps.

When I click navigation Icon (Blue Arrow) it is stuck in 'searching for GPS'.
When I use direction menu inside the map everything is fine and giving directions, but there is no navigate menu, therefore no voice navigation available.

Help please......

We had a guy on here last week from Saudi, with a phone he got in the US. Everything worked. But not when he got home. Same question as yours. Turn-by-turn navigation didn't work anymore. I tried to plot some routes from south Europe to major ME cities. No go.

Either Google hasn't implemented turn-by-turn navigation yet for large parts of the world (not really surprising, it's a BIIIG world), including the ME apparently, and/or turn-by-turn navigation is screened for certain parts of the world where it might otherwise be a godsend (...) to bomb-belt suicide bombers, IED bombers, and other crazy assassins.

Google Earth works, though. But has no turn-by-turn navigation of course.

By and large, Copelo is right about it being a government restriction in your area, for security reasons.

Ovi Maps on the Nokia symbian handsets also has the same restriction.

You are both wrong, I live in Jordan in the middle east and I have a GPS navigation I got on ebay with maps for all the middle east countries, and ovi maps navigation also work here. It is google that did not do the work yet to make the vavigation work. Also, Garmin has full maps for all middle east countires as well.

This sounds like a GPS receiver issue. Do any other GPS-enabled apps work properly? Try GPS Status. See if it obtains a GPS fix. If not, use its utility to reset the aGPS data and see if the receiver is able to obtain a fix.

Whether or not Google Maps Nav works over there is an entirely separate matter. The GPS receiver issue need to be addressed first.

Sad

Google Maps works fine in the UAE. It is the voice navigation which is a problem. Clearly Google have decided not to implement that in this region even though their mapping is very acurate.

It's a real shame as in countries like this where road signage isn't always clear is exactly where you need navigation the most

Here's to hoping it happens soon!

Correction: Google Maps works fine in the Middle East region, but it does not provide turn-by-turn directions.
Exception to the above is Egypt, Jordon, and Lebanon.

Ovi by Nokia is not Google, and it works fine in the Middle East, including turn-by-turn directions.

When I say Google Maps, then I refer to Google Maps and not the application that comes in an Android device. For Android Google Maps application, there's an option to buy licenses for the Gulf countries. I have not tried that option. It may provide a solution to the problem, and give you turn-by-turn directions with voice guidance. Has anyone tried that option?

Until this issue is resolved, I use Navit for Android with easyTTS or eSpeak to get turn-by-turn directions and some level of voice guidance.

Google navigation works in your country? I live in the UAE and I get this message when I start the app: Google Maps Navigation is not yet availabe in this location.
The Maps work, but that's pretty useless to me.
I installed CoPilot, which has voice navigation. But I haven't tested it yet because it has problems finding GPS signal -_-

is Google navigation now available for uae? Does anyone know whats the best navigation software for uae? I bought a samsung GalaxyS2 recently. When i try navigation it says" no google naviation for this area". Tried trial versions of Sygic and Route 66. Both work fine except that the uae road network is being improved so fast that the system doens't know that a roundabout is now a junction and some roads are closed permanently. Which navi software has the best features?
