This question relates to my HTC Desire.

I have spent the last few days seraching and downloading and trying apps, but have not yet found one that does what I want.

I want an app that will allow me to lock the screen (by tapping on the app shortcut on home screen), the screen can then ONLY be unlocked using a password/passcode/slide or similar control (i.e. unlikely to be unlocked in your pocket) and where the screen will NOT switch off - therefore not requiring the use of the power button to turn it back on.

Preferably, the screen would dim after a pre-determined time to save on battery power, maybe even dimming to black (off, but without having to use power on to switch back on).

I have tried numerous apps including Screen Off, No Lock, Screen Off and Lock, Lock Screen Widget and most recently WidgetLocker.

None of these (as far as I can see), do what I want.

WidgetLocker appeared to come closest, but still the screen timeouts and switches off requiring the power button to turn it back on. Also, it defaults to 'Tool mode' which then necessitates another tap to action 'Lock mode'. Also, when in 'Lock mode', if the notification bar is dragged down, this then activates the screen and hard buttons.

I have tried using Keepscreen to avoid the screen timeout function, but this only works when other applications are running.

Any one know of something that fits my fairly specific requirements.

no lock works fine with me, for not using power button.

I doubt you'll find an app that does what you want.

The simple reason is that leaving the screen on uses a lot of battery. Most people want the screen to shut off at some point.

Widget locker, FWIW, has a setting where you can change the default mode from Tool Mode to Lock Mode. I believe it's under Behavior, where you can change the Notification Launch mode.

So, it sounds like the best solution would be to go into your settings, change your Screen Timeout to the Max time (on my phone it's 30 minutes), and then use the Notification Bar icon for Widget Locker to lock your screen.

widget locker will do this.very nice app.but to get it to
pin lock you will need auto lock set to immediate in
phone settings
