Question Do I have a chance?

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and just trying to figure my way through this awesomeness that is Android.

I am completely new to programming/Android/development/everything I want to accomplish.

I have some great ideas for simple apps, basically buttons that lead to info. (not gaming till later or other higher end applications) The problem is I have no experience what-so-ever to application development or anything language wise.

If I could ask for some advice, where should I start being brand new to everything? I have downloaded all necessary files and programs (Eclipse) and am grasping it fairly well. I develop the UI's in XML within Eclipse but am having trouble connecting ( This Button ) to ( This Command, taking me to This Screen ) if that makes sense at all.

Does anyone know any good books, companies, yourselves even who may be able to offer some clarity in what I need? I mean logistically it seems so so simple but its just a matter of connecting the dots with the Java portion. Being that I don't know Java in the least it hinders me quite a bit I bet. BUT I want to learn... SO badly and am just looking for advice or tips or tricks.

Personally I was in the same boat a year ago or so and this is what i decided. I wanted to root my phone so i could use my phone to its max potental. I used to program in school and all but didnt know anything about android programming. So i spoke with a friend who has a rooted phone and he suggested i take it slow. So i did. I searched the forums on here for ideas and apps that i liked.

There are so many apps, programs, widgets, etc, that will help you get the look and feel of a customized phone without actually doing any code. Im going to link a thread that has thousands of homescreens people made by using apps in the market place. The one i made only cots me maybe 4 or 5 bucks for all the full paid apps I wanted/needed.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Just go through that forum and read what people have and ask questions on how to get them. People will be helpful.

So all in all, being so new to programming id suggest you stay away from that for now and get the custom look youd like without it.

Good luck!
