I just need a simple app that works similarly to spin the bottle, but instead of a bottle is an arrow.

My wife and I need to come up with a better way to decide whose turn is it to put the kid to bed

And if you want to get fancy, you could enter names, and separate those like a pie chart where the arrow spins

Or just colors, sometimes we lose pieces for board games that this could replace

How about a coin-flip app? Or maybe just a coin

This app would be more of a utility, but I don't know if it can even work root, or non-root.

I want to enhance the functionality of the notifications.

1. When I get a notification for a new email, I want a button on the notification to delete the email without going to the app. Same with a text. A reply button would be nice too.

2. When I'm listening to Pandora or listen, I want the notification to show a play/pause/skip buttons.

There are more possibilities, but these are my main big ones. They would increase productivity by letting you skip going to the app. (ie. look at notification, press notification, go to app, perform function, go back to other app I was using.) Now it's all done from the notification window.

I know you can end a call from the notification window, so something like that is possible.

Default Contacts and messaging app

I don't know if it would be more of a request for porting an app or UI rather than an app that is built from the ground up, but I would love to see the timescape and mediascape UI and functionality brought to android as a whole. The app could use some tuning up according to folks at engadget so as to reduce laggy behavior, but an app and widget that performed such a thing would be awesome. I would pay good money for such an app. It integrates and allows you to choose to display chronological communication filtered by who it is from. It would be nice to view my contacts on a widget like this and be able to tap a contact and have a window pop up with options on how to contact that person depending on what info I have for that person. Same with a music widget. If someone can accomplish this, let me know. I'll pay to get it. Aloha!

Yep. I like that. My dream come true app would be a graphics editor that supports layers(photoshop, paintshop pro) and allow me to completely abandon my desktop and laptop.
My other dream app would keep a running record of allowance owed to my kids as well as what they're supposed to have saved/spent. IOU comes pretty damn close and I love it but I want it to update itself every Friday when allowance is due.

Email the Dev and ask if he/she can add that feature if it's a free app, most devs are up for suggestions, especially ones that make their apps better

Default Video View text

I would like to see an app that allows you to text while making the background the video view from you lens. This way you could walk and text without worrieing about running into things. (I will not admit to doing this but.....)

I have inquired about this in many other areas....nobody knows of an App for it. This is related to remotely controlling your computer with your phone.

In short, an app that allows for you to create shortcuts on your Homescreen that will do things (a wide, customizable variety) on your home computer.

----------------------------------------------------------

What I mean by "Things"
>Tell your computer to open specific file. It could be a program you want to open....a playlist....a website...a script you wrote....you get what I'm saying....anything.

>Send your computer keystroke combinations [yes, it is WAY faster to press a button to send a pre-programmed key combination than using some apps keyboard each time]. I could easily program my computer to do some crazy ass action upon receiving a special key combination.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Possibilities are endless when you enable this to happen on a remote level.

Currently, all the "Control Your Computer Remotely" apps out there do not allow anything near to this and are very narrow-minded.

What I mean, is they assume everything you would ever want to see or activate on your computer is done fastest with a keyboard/mouse/screenshot emulation. NOT TRUE.

Instead of clicking on a shortcut to open said command, you click a shortcut to open your Remote Desktop app....log in....do whatever it takes to see computer desktop, click with mouse to open said file. And that is if the file is on your desktop....LAME

In conclusion....I believe the "Control Your Computer" genre of apps have room for VAST improvement. Capitalize on that.

iSwimtimes - is an iPhone speed swimming log app that allows you to log and track and compare practice and swim meet performance for multiple swimmers, upload swim meet event data from HyTek (meet manager) - event, heat, lane, seed times, standards, etc.

It is really very sophisticated, but it is an iPhone only app at this time.

My kids are competitive swimmers and iPhone parents are all using iSwimtimes. Telcom2go, the company that markets iSwimtimes doesn't seem to have any interest in an Android/Java port.

I've been considering writing an ASE/PHP version my self (I hate Java), but don't have the time at the moment, and I not so sure that ASE is ready for prime time.

Anybody know if someone could do a version of Microphone that instead of putting it out through the speakers, it throws it through USB Debug as reads as a recording device? I tried recording my Stereo Out while Microphone over Bluetooth, but it was choppy as all get out.

Poof! Done. Just go to the market and search "barcode". I'm using about five apps that do that.

Money Light Rail Train Business Directory Idea

I have developed a website showing over 5,000 locations near light rail train stations in 16 cities (so far) and think an Android application would be just as popular as my website.

There are currently 29 cities with light rail and several others with heavy rail (i.e. New York, Chicago, San Fran).

Now that I copyrighted and trademarked my idea, I would love to share it with a knowledgeable app developer and provide a percentage of any income realized from such a venture.

I was thinking that I could sell the app for under a buck.

What d'ya think?

Someone should develop apps similar to the ones developed by melon mobile such as Advanced Device Lock, Advanced Call Manager, Advanced Communication Manager etc.

ModeMonster
---------------

...hope this makes sense..here goes

a speech app (if not an entire program, user interphase) that activates certain custom modes through everything (all apps, settings, display...EVERYTHING)

-along with physical "trigged" aspects, and the ability to create custom modes within them
through any set of connection settings, app settings, email settings, lock settings, etc.

-this app studies when you put your phone in certain modes, leave certain apps open, adjust certain power settings(ie sleep, airplaine, etc. , studies what hours you normally use your phone (down to the second).

- this app becomes accustomed to those settings, and betters the battery life your phone (like an automatic "UltimateJuice"+blacklisting apps+aScheduler+speech app, all in one)

- recognizes certain patterns and makes them better ONLY based on by how you want them to work.

for example (s):
-advanced black listing with talk- would only play notifications for "important" people that you select, and only allowing certain people to contact you on custom schedules. and to disable the mode for the blacklisted, you would just have to say "black list, off, (name of the person).

-autokilling processes over a certain amount of time when you don't return to them for a certain amount of time.
- changing brightness settings automatically during certain times of the day
-shutting off wifi on certain times of day
- a new "sleep/relaxing mode"... possibly a "radio" sleep mode so that you can play pandora, last.fm, etc, while you sleep. not only that but have custom settings for it
-turning the phone a certain way would activate these modes

ie" if i wanted to activate sleep/relax mode (lastfm enabled), i would have to plug my phone in, turn the lock on, and flip the phone upside down to activate that "triggered" mode.

- or if i wanted to activate a mode with i'm driving i'd just have to say "disable (name of the app)," and say "driving mode".....enabling navigation, satellite connection, music, etc..(whatever modes or apps are set to activate when i say the "tagged/custom labled app".)

-creates "tags" for certain modes when spoke, so when i say "family mode" it blacklists everyone except everyone labeled "family" inside of my contacts.

-this app would also have the ability to "sync settings with ModeMonster" throughout all apps.

I've seen requests for something similar in a few other threads, as well as in this one for a simple budgeting app into which you can input your incomings and outgoings for the month, then look at any point in the month to see how much funds you have available (without accounting jargon. I don't know and don't care about reconciling/ catagories/ projects/ CSV import/ export etc).
I've looked at all the free finance/ checkbook apps on the market, and none of them seems to be able to do this. Ideally, for the main screen I would want to see something like three columns. Column 1, money in, column 2, money out, column 3 - running total, arranged vertically roughly by date. There could be a plus/ minus sign to add/ subtract amounts at the base of column 1 and 2. Same at the base of column 3 but this would allow you to input your actual balance and it would automatically add the correcting amount to the appropriate column. You could also input your overdraft/ account limit into column 3, and get a warning when you get close to it. If you have a weekly recurring transaction, say grocery shopping on a Saturday, it would show this amount on all Saturdays through the month (not just the date of the next transaction). The icing on the cake would be the ability to show a simple graphical report showing the transactions/ available funds through the month.
Surely this can't be that hard?

Change the Clock app so when you create an alarm you can choose in the "Repeat" the option "Once only" but when you do this you go straight to calendar to define in which day you want the alarm to go off.

It's a suggestion because the calendar alarm has a low volume. (where do you change it?)

hmm...are all of your alerts low? You can try to download Audiomanager and increase the alert volume of the phone and see if that works.

There are two different options... kinda.
1- there are apps on the market that claim to be "mirror" apps. All they do is turn off your screen so you can use the phone's reflection.
2- if your phone is equipped with a front-facing camera... problem solved

Default Running App

Hi all- First time posting and fairly new Android user. I would love to see a Running app that would let you use the GPS map more. I have tried cardio trainer, runkeeper, mapmyrun, etc. While they are all decent apps I like pieces of each one. I would really like an app that would allow you to just select the distance you want to run (ex. 5 mile run) and then develop a route based upon your gps location with turn by turn directions. This would be great when you are running places that you are not familiar with. Some of the other apps I mentioned before allow you to map out a route on the computer before you run to get distances and so forth but you cannot download the route to your phone with directions. Not easy to watch the map while trying to run. Seems like it would be an easy thing to add...but what do I know

I like the public transit idea, but think it's a long way off. There are some good traffic apps like waze for private car travelers, but I've yet to see public transit authorities mesh and sync their info in any reasonable way. But it is a great idea, so by all means, work on it! make it good!

I also like the reciept scanning idea, finally a fast convenient way to keep tabs that is a built in part of the spending process. It would also be good for businesses and expense accounts. Of course it should also have all the budgets built in and offer reminders to keep spending in line.

Well, I just scanned all 22 pages and saw a bunch of cool ideas but did not see my idea mentioned.
Here in PA you can now scan your lottery tickets at the retailer to see if you are a winner. It would be cool to have an app that would scan the tickets the same way. The barcode scanner reads the code but is not linked to the lottery data.
And is there a keyboard out there with arrows so you can navigate your cursor? It is a pain sometimes trying to get the cursor in the right spot when editing text.

Default Shopping Reminder w GPS enabled

Here is my idea and I have a lot of friends (other middle aged women who have failing memories) who like this idea. My app would enable me to create lists of things I need at Office Depot, Publix (grocery store), Walgreens, Target and and so forth. Utilizing the GPS, it recognizes that I am entering or at a store where I have a list and it activates sending me the list of items I need from that store.

@rooneyms: StoreAlertz - Android app on AppBrain
There are more apps like this that more or less connect grocery lists to locations. Just search on appbrain for a while and you'll prolly find them!

Default Power button lock app.

I would like an app that actually locks my phone properly. On my last phone, when I locked it, I could not do anything with it unless I unlocked it by pressing the proper keys (menu then *). On my new phone, some of the buttons are still active. The most annoying of all is the power/end call button. This button constantly gets pressed and I come to find out my phone has either been without signal (airplane mode) or has been shut off for who knows how long.

I want the power button locked when I lock my phone and I do not want this app to require any security permissions.

Lets hear them!

I'd love an Android application that could allow you to use your phone as a remote control to change television stations. That would be SIIIIICK. Problem would be if you can go into someone else's house and change THEIR stations.

I think the "receiver" would need to be bluetooth enabled since I don't see phones being able to send infrared signals anytime soon. I guess the key here is actually having a RECEIVER that has the technology. The application is probably the easy part.

How cool would it be if you could use your phone to take video that automatically streams - and is saved to - your account on a website? People could browse by users, locations, etc... and see who is currently "phonecasting" video and watch them live.

This could be crazy if people take their phones into sporting events, concerts, etc... and you can browse streams by location... you could potentially pinpoint events going on and see video streams from people filming at the event with their phone.

Pretty crazy if you ask me. And very doable.

So you're walking along... but wouldn't mind hopping on a bus, catching a metro, jumping in a cab, etc... what is the QUICKEST or CHEAPEST way from point A to B?

This app would list all your options with distance, time, price and more. Supposing you select "bus" it would then help you navigate to the closest bus stop. It might also alert you to where the closest cab is or even connect you directly to a cab company who would instantly come to the GPS location referred to them.

When you buy something, you scan the receipt and can manage your expenses and accounting OH so easily. You'd also have permanent records if the IRS comes knocking on the door.

As you're on your trip you take pictures, type using a full qwerty keyboard, etc... and a LIVE journal is kept with features such as GPS location, time of input, etc to create a more dynamic "live journal"

Actually this just sounds like posting to wordpress from your phone with your location auto-filled via GPS hahahaha not really that exciting.
Qik already does the video idea. The camera can take pics of receipts and evernote will provide a journal with the pics but without the GPS location, but I'm don't mind making note about the location with the pics. So most of what you mention is already done. Good idea's, I've also have the Footprints app on my EVO that does take pics and GPS location and notes, I just remembered that app.

It should be able to track sales tax, etc.

It should also have a mode where you can use items in your pantry, or items from online databases, to build a shopping list. Bonus if you can tell it, over time, where in the store that item is located, so that when you come back for future shopping trips, it will order your shopping list accordingly. That way you don't have to hunt back and forth from aisle to aisle to make sure you got everything on your list (nor will you have a bunch of missed items at the end of your trip, forcing you to go back through the store to find them), nor do you have to scan through your list to make sure you got everything from the current aisle.

That was an idea of mine back in the 90's. Mine was a bit different though. I wanted to scan my receipt and have it catalog my purchases and sync with a recipe program.

Right now I'm looking for a to do list that will add to my google calender. I'd like to be able to enter the "to-do's" without dates and save them that way. and later add them to the calender.

Any ideas?

Isn't that the whole point of latitude?

I don't use it because I don't need people (or Google) tracking me any more than they already do, but I thought that was the whole purpose of the latitude feature.

Not sure if this has been posted but I would like an application that sets your wallpaper to random images from google street view, you would have a new view from the world every week/day/few hours! A bit like what this website does MapCrunch - Random Google Street View

I would like to have an app that functions as an internal html browser and that can also read pdf, docs, txt files etc. This "app" would allow for internal hyperlinking between local files (i.e. file:////) on the phone (probablyon the sd card) and also for external links. In other words, expand the functionality of the existing browsers -NOT existing Droid X file managers. This would be neat without the use of a webserver.

And, while we are on the subject of webservers, if one had to be employed for the above purpose, why not include a browser which would (1) automatically start with the required http:... , making the device instantly usable, and (2) which accomplises all of the above.

And, how about a nice file manager like the old DOS Magellan for maneuvering around the phone in high style.

Thanks -bestresearcher

a few ideas:

an app that you can record a song off of the radio etc and it cross references to tell you what it is...probably too much work to build a data base of songs :/ basically what is this song app.

an app/ui that makes widgets invisible until they're actually being used...or maybe even be able to adjust the transparency of widgets etc(my screen is cluttered)

maybe and app linked to your calender so when looking at the calender you can one click gps get directions type of deal.

an app that watches prices for you...say if you're looking for a specific item such as a Samsung 46" 1080p 60Hz LED-LCD TV UN46C5000 it'll search the web once a day and give you pricing updates on that specific item.

a simple poker session/stats app that keep track of wins and losses over a long period of time

somebody needs to make a steam like app that keeps track of your login info and can download the app off of their server anytime after purchase(follows user not phone)

thats all i got for now its late :/

Gtask is very simple. I like simple. But it's short features I would like.

Doesn't sync with Google calender.
Doesn't allow estimated time for completion.

I basically want to build a "to-do" list and assign a time value for how long each task will take. And then at a later date use that list to plan a weekend. Or something like that.

Default Control Android Phone With Computer

Just want clean and simple like the PDAnet sms agent but via bluetooth not USB cable.

I contacted PDAnet and they said they do not support it now but see how it would be useful and will look into it. I got my fingers crossed an app is on its way from somewhere, ill deff buy it.

These two have it right! I would pay for an app that allowed for me to control my android phone via my computer. Ideally I'd like to be able to use my phone as if it were in my hand, just from my laptop screen.

I'd settle for an app that allowed me to send/receive calls and send/receive SMS via my computer, in my case using my Droid and Macbook Pro.

Default Access to Proximity Readers

This might be a little far fetched since I don't know if there is any phone out there that might have this capability but here we go. In my apartment complex they use Proximity Readers to get in the buildings and they give you this white card to access your building and the club house. The card is kind of bulky and is a pain to keep in the wallet or even on the key chain. So if someone could develop an app that emulates the white card to get in it would be awesome. To give you more details of what I am talking about you can check out the systems here

Love the front-facing camera! Never thought about using it as a mirror. Thanks!
