I have been enjoying the all amazing N64oid emulator but have been wondering why there was a lack of updates. When I went and searched it to check reviews and stuff it didn't show in results. Then I went and clicked on it in my apps and it said file not found!? Does this mean it will become a browser downloaded app now?

Yeah but if it isn't available in the android market we won't have a simple method to update. It isn't on the ANDROID MARKET that means they must have deleted it right?
Google deleted a lot of stuff recently that was compromised with Trojans and whatnot. I have zero knowledge if this is part of that or not, just saying tho in case it is.

N64oid was made3 by Yongzh and did not contain any such thing. Yongzh is the most trusted emulator developer on the Android market.
The apps google removed took place before N64oid was removed from the market as well. I have heard no news as to why but am inquiring with the dev.

Wasn't trying to slag anyone or bad-mouth an app, just putting an awareness out there about how Google sometimes works for those that might not have known.
I think you're right on to speak with the dev, can't wait to hear the reasoning behind what happened.
BTW - and this is confusing about our rules, but I just enforce them, I don't make them, so here goes - we allow links to valid sites for apps (Android Market, AppBrain, dev websites) but not to sites with a warez history - and here's the kicker - links like that to a game emulator are ok, but links to the actual games outside those sources listed aren't allowed.
Just putting that out there, a kinda Saturday morning public service announcement.

I am just hoping this is not Google turning hostile on emulators. That is one of the biggest pluses of Android.

I still have n64oid on my Galaxy S, but of course now it won't get updates and be playable. Awesome.
It still runs a few games at playable speeds
Well it seems if you get a phone with at higher amounts of Ram it becomes much better for most games so at least we can just count on hardware improving things
Due to complaints by people that the app was not up to par yet he has taken it off the market for the next couple of months until it can be perfected.
Personally I was hoping to grab the updates as we go along but because a few jerks complained now everyone has to wait with the weak version for 2-3 months or possibly more before getting any updates.
Good lord, so thanks to a few idiots I have to wait a couple of months for updates? It was better with a couple of games running excellently, and then updates improving others as we went along.
This is disbenifitial to multi-phone development. Sure you can probably run each phone virtually through a computer but it wont ever be the same as the real phone. Also I doubt he will test every major game on every phone.
The people who complained should've just lived with the bugs.

I don't think it was just people complaining but people giving 1 star ratings because "it doesn't play 'insert random N64 game title here'" he is likely looking to secure the future of the app not forever being stuck with a low rating.
I dont think there are virtual versions of every phone out there. Many apps have public betas where users try out the app so the dev can get the bugs worked out so the dev gets feeback for various phones.

A couple installed apps mysteriously disappeared last week, that might explain why, they were legit as far as I know (Lookout and K9 mail I think were the ones that vanished) and I was able to get them back via the market.
Also, yes N64 emulator from yongzh disappeared, all his other emulators are still there.

Good point. Its true that if a App is still in a testing phase that they should place up a free beta version. Even major MMOs do this. So what makes an android developer so special?
I had N64oid on my SGS2 and I loved it! However, a short while after I started using the app I started getting annoying ads through my pull down notifications menu. Sometimes they can be as frequent as every four minutes. I would assume that was one of the reasons why Google decided to pull the app from the Market. I just got the SGS3 and do not want to bother with it if it will bring those annoying ads back honestly.
Can anyone recommend any other alternative that still works as well?
N64oid always ran like crap for me. Dissapointing because his other emulators always run great. There is another N64 emulator called Mupen64Plus which, performance wise, blows N64oid out of the water. It is still in beta and there are a few things I don't like (can't resize or move buttons yet) but for a free emulator this thing is amazing. Here is a link to the developers website, you can download it straight from him
