Wish it looked like a Pokedex instread of an Android App.
Also did you have the right to charge for the Pokemon IP? It would be against the law to charge for it if you haven't got a license from Nintendo and should change the app to free.

This app is unofficial and is not in any way authorised or created by the creators of the video games.
To the best of my knowledge, this app complies with copyright law guidelines of "fair use" in the same way other commercial, unofficial game guides do. All images have been cropped and are being used in no way that replaces the original game. All characters, their names, places, and other aspects described are trademarked by their original owners.
This app has used public domain sources for the information it contains and has not pulled any of it from the game. It doesn't contain screenshots of the game.
Once again, the app is not designed to replace, or cause any damage to the marketability of the original games. It does not deride them in any way. If anything I hope it will do quite the opposite.

OK oK, if this qualifies as "fair use" then I apologize for accusing you of copyright infringement. I'm not a lawyer, I should shut up
Really great app, I just downloaded it. It would be even better if there were larger sprites, or maybe the official artwork on each pokemon's page. You can get them from bulbapedia pretty easily.
Big artwork is definitely something I'm looking for, but Bulbapedia has a non-commercial license so I can't use any of their content. If you can find a decent public domain source of imagery, let me know and I'll do my best to get it in.
There's a huge sprite resource here: Pokemon Elite 2000 - Sprite Resource
And the images on bulbapedia are all actually official art by Ken Sugimori, so they aren't under the bulbapedia license.
Excellent. Thanks. I'll have to look into it and figure out the best way to integrate them.
On the one hand, everyone likes having everything local so it's fast and usable everywhere, but I can imagine that adding 493 larger images might make it prohibitively large.
Also, I've noticed a lot of pokemon are listed as unisex when they are not. Have you just not put that data into the database yet?
Yeah - I noticed that. The database source I used doesn't seem to have male/female info for Pokemon that are only one sex. I changed a couple of them to test the code, but I need to go through them all and correct that.
BTW - 1.3.0 is out with a 'By Type' page following a bunch of requests.
The ability to mark which ones I "own" and sounds for each would be the easiest buy for me yet! I'd love it, keep that in mind for future updates. Sprite simple noises from the portable games would be great!
I'm looking into including better artwork (after figuring out if I can - copyright) but it's around 8MB. Do I include it and make the app over 13MB in size or put them on the web and have them download when you look at them?
I'm really looking for opinions on how big is too big for an app?
Just bought this today after I got HeartGold for an easy reference to what level my Pokemon learns moves or evolves. Works great! Has many other useful features, but I'll be sure to check back now that I have found this thread if I think of any things that can be changed or updated.
Edit: I agree with another post above. Add in a way to check which pokemon I have collected and maybe a count of how many you have caught? 20/490 (or however many).
Also a way to select which game you have so that only the ones in your game are shown, so the count is correct.
Maybe have a tab for pokemon profiles to keep in your "party" so they are in a quick reference area, so you don't have to search for them again.

For the life of me I just cannot find this in the market, I have tried manually searching and also using the barcodes.
It is strange as I also tried to find another of your apps and came up empty handed, so I am assuming there is some blocking going on.
Just FYI I am a new user on T mobile Uk on the HTC desire, if anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful, as I am a rather sad old Pokemon player!
1.8.0: Added Pokemon cries and fixed a few bugs since I last posted here.
I think next up on the todo list is to figure out a good way to let people record which ones they have. Hopefully it won't prove too complicated I can find a bit more time for this :-)
