Scenario:
I have 2 email accounts configured in the native email account on my LG Optimus 2X. Everything worked fine for a while then the Gmail account stopped synching with an authentication failure, stating retry in 15 minutes. Initially this was a sporadic issue, now it is constant.

The Gmail app works fine, no errors, so I'm working on the basis my actual Gmail account is fine.

What I've done so far:
Aside from triple checking my account settings in the native email app, I then deleted the account with the intention of then re-adding it. On trying to add the account back in, it keeps sending me back to the start of the configuration process, stating I need to check my settings.


Any one had a similiar issue and any ideas on resolution? I don't want to do any factory resets.

This may be school boy stuff for the more ofe Android user, but as I've just switched from an iPony some of this is new territory...

My solution:
Went to my Manage Applications screen and found the Email app (the larger one which holds the database). Forced stop, cleared cache and then cleared data.

Slightly frustrating losing all that data on the device, but at least the reconfiguration was nice and easy and it's all running as it should.
