So I saw this posting and was thinking...I have requested an invite on Google's webpage like 10 times...wonder if they sent me an invite yet. I searched my inbox and guess what...after about 3 months I finally got an invite. Anyone know any good sites that reference all the features? Is it possible to use google voice to text and get rid of verizon's text plan? Can it display my verizon number for texting or only the GV #?

One thing to do is to add your google voice number and the access number to your friends and family list. The access number will show up when you make a call on your Droid with the GV app installed and you make the call using GV. It will show for 5-10 seconds as soon as you make the call. I have my GV set to ask me every time how I want to make the call.
Also, keep an eye on the access number as it changes from time to time (no one really knows how long each access number is "good" for).
As far as a reference site, I would suggest simply reading the Google help files. When you see a question mark, click on it. I believe there is a link called help as well. I read those and learned the features, what they do, and how to use them. One example, press 4 during a call to record the call.
As far as I know, all texting that goes to your GV number will appear in the GV app. I'm not sure if you can display your phone number instead of the GV number when calling and texting, but I'm sure the Google help files will tell you. As far as using GV for texting and getting rid of Verizon's text plan, I think you have to have texting to have friends and family. And even then, you have to have a certain number of minutes as well. So, if you got rid of the Verizon text plan, you would not be able to make calls that don't use your minutes.
Hey what is google voice exactly? I recieved a google voice envite in my email, and I don't even know who sent it to me. I asked my friends and family, and none of them even know what it really is to have sent it. Does this mean I can envite others now? How do I find out who sent it to me? I think google just sent it to me randomly to be honest.

I am using the "Google Voice Callback" app, it adds a step to making a call but you do not use an access code therefore, only one number to add to F&F (and nothing to keep track off/change).
You can set filters up so it will always use GV for certain calls and always use your carrier number for certain calls, no deciding on a per call basis. It really works well, I've had no issues at all with it.
The one slight annoyance with it is that it calls you so you have to answer your phone to make a call. That, however, is worth it for the overall ease of using GV to it's max potential.

I'll have to give that app a try. But anyways, the access number is not a code, but rather an actual phone number. Any time you make a call using the GV app, it uses a different phone number to access your GV number. I don;t know why it does this, but it does.
