Default Can I stop an app from updating? How to roll back version?

Hi all, I use the QQplayer movie player to play AVIs and other junk, it worked really good until they updated it. I found an apk of the old version online and installed that, working great now with the old version but it still shows up in the market as installed and update available.

I didn't think it would show up there if installed from an apk, but is there any way to hide it/make it not look for updates? I've updated it again once accidentally and had to uninstall and reinstall from the apk.

Also, it was a giant pain for me to track down the apk for the old version of that, if something like this ever happens again is there an easier way to roll back to a previous version?

You can go to Market and set just Notify you, but I don't know whether it can be useful.

Astro File Manager and ES File Manager both provide an "app manager" that can backup you app (but not the data). Once you install the older version APK file, you can back it up and restore from there. You can also just keep the older APK file around and install it whenever you need to.

As for stopping it from updating, if you're rooted you can use Titanium Backup to detach the app from the Market - preventing future updates. I did this with one app so far, and it seems to have worked fine.

+1 on the Titanium Backup method to detach from the market. I have done that with some apps and it worked great. You can also back up your data using TB.
