Launching VM

Hey guys, so i am having difficulty launching my app. i am using Eclipse and when i hit the run button nothing happens. When i hit the debug button the message:

Cannot connect to VM
Socket closed

appears. wondering if anyone has ran into this before and has a way to fix it. i looked online and checked other forums with no love. thanks for the help.
