A question about app locks/USB protect

Ive been looking into app locks lately wanting to find a way to keep my phone safer in case it ever got stolen, mostly looking for the ones with feature that prevents access by USB without a password or something like.

Some seem to say they will do this but ive tested a few and they seem to crash a lot, and dont do well at stopping usb access.

Has anyone else tested ways to keep the phone more secure against access, or a app lock that works well without crashes?
