Default Rooted Evo/Phone update - wifi and Telenav problems

I've got an HTC EVO 4G, however, due to the partial rooting it is now 3G. A few questions:
1) My phone is maybe partially rooted...it says it isn't, but yet I still have the "rooted wireless" - is this a problem?
2) I did a phone update - and it said basically it was unable to - and went haywire. I unplugged the battery and it appears to be working ok except for:
wireless internet very poor now...in fact in some areas (airports) doesn't seem to work at all
Telenav - Sprints GPS system is very delayed and it doesnt keep up with the driving

Any suggestions/comments to help? I thought about unrooting, and also if there might be another type of update but didn't know if there were any suggestions. Thanks in advance!! - Mike
