Default Apps Availability?

So I was trying to download an App but it wasn't coming up in the marketplace. My roommate owns a Moto Droid and it was coming up on his for download, but no where to be found for my Eris. So are certain apps only available for certain phones or is it because he has a more current update on his phone?

the apps available in the market depend on your location (country) and the android version on your phone, not the phone model

If an app has been written using parts of Android 1.6 or 2.x that have been changed or added since Android 1.5, then that app won't run on (or show up in the market for) the Hero or Eris. If we ever get our upgrade to 2.1 then we should be able to get these apps, of couse by then Android 3.4 will be out and we won't be able to get those apps.
