Default SMSes generating empty attachments?

I don't seem to be able to find this anywhere else, but here goes.

So when a friend of mine texts me, it seems like 1 in 5 texts gets an empty (0kb, no content, "slideshow") attachment attached to it, but she isn't attaching anything. (The friend is competent with phones, wouldn't accidentally attach things over and over. heh.)

I'm on an Evo with Froyo, she's on a droid Eris, also with Froyo.

It seems to only happen with long texts. Is it just attaching the extra letters as an attachment, and then tacking them onto the end of the text? My phone just sends more texts when you go over 160 chars.

Note, this only happens on texts sent from the Eris to the Evo, not the other way around, and doesn't happen to anyone else I asked. It's a little frustrating.

Hopefully it's something easy to fix, and I'll feel silly.
Thanks for your time.
