Default 100% free voip app like talkatone

I have been searching for an android equivalent of talkatone. No signing up to sip clients etc. Just load and go. Is there anything like this for android? Talkatone is free for calling any number in n/a.

GrooveIP. App costs $4.99 (or $1.99 when it goes on sale at Amazon), but after that it's free.

So there is no other sites etc to sign up to? All the others you have to get a sip number somewhere else. I will download it tonight. I don't mind paying for an app that works. Just feel I can have free VoIP calls.

There's Nettalk, which I downloaded and tried today. I made a few calls and people seemed annoyed with the delay, which could have been on my end while using wifi.I didn't see anywhere within Nettalk to adjust the settings however. GrooveIP works a bit better, you can adjust the settings, and for $5, I'd say it's worth it.

thanks Hiwatt.

I will download both to have a couple of options when traveling. when I hit the american border, i can keep my 3g usage to emergency only and still have full functionality of my phone/tablet/computer!

Your name taken from the amp line?

Yup, long time Hiwatt player!

Good luck with it! If it makes any difference, I uninstalled Nettalk this morning. The inability to adjust the settings along with the lag/delay made it unusable.

another + for GrooveIP
I just downloaded GrooveIP the other night and it works. I mainly got if for when I go to remote locations that dont have any cell coverage, but wifi is available. my wife likes to hear from me daily to make sure im ok, and sometimes driving 20 to 50 miles to get into cell range is a pain. She does not want an email so this will work out great.

I'm gonna go on the record and say that I like Viber. Frankly, I think it sounds better than Groove IP and certainly better than Nettalk. It also seems to work well on 3G and sound excellent over wifi. The only downside (if it's really a downside) is the client must be installed on the person's phone you're calling. That doesn't seem like a big deal to me though. When I installed it, it found 10 other people in my contacts already using it. You can sms and mms with it as well. There's no ads. If there's a downside to Viber, let me know what it is. I haven't found one yet.
