I need pros and cons of the top 4 stores that come loaded onto tablets. I have no need to spend big bucks and looking for a tablet between $100 and $200 (preferrably around $130 to $150) that runs Google Play (Android Market). Any thoughts on GetJar, Appslib, Slideme etc? Which is the safest and has the best selection of free and paid apps? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Getjar was good not long ago but they have since gotten rid of the gold apps (you could get paid apps for free legally) so it's not really much different then the app market now .. not sure about the others.
I read that Gameloft sells many of its games exclusively in its own Android store, and I heard many bad things about it, (i.e., buyers could not reinstall games they bought from Gameloft, games did not work on their devices and Gameloft refused to do anything, etc.)
Is there any reason why I would want to buy an app from any store other than Google Play?
Amazon AppStore gives out one free app everyday, and that is the only reason why I have Amazon AppStore app on my phone. However, I do not buy apps from Amazon because their apps are outdated. Most apps are several versions behind their counterparts in Google Play, and some apps in Amazon have not receive updates in almost a year (while the Google Play version has just had recent updates.) I have Amazon AppStore purely for the free apps.
Is there another store worth having on my phone other than Google Play and Amazon AppStore? And why would it worth having?
Getjar offers paid apps for free occasionally .I got Tapatalk ,Beautiful Widgets and Grave Defense HD from Getjar .
Slideme.org has some apps which are unavailable in market or removed for some reasons like Game emulators and Better Keyboard .
Samsung Apps occasionally give Free Games via their app store .
F-Droid caters specifically the open source Apps .
95 p.c of the app requirement is fulfilled by the Play Store .
If you require an app from the rest 5 p.c then only alternative app stores are required .
Most common reason for installing other app stores is occasional paid apps for free offer .
Other most common reason is only Google Certified devices are allowed to have Play Store . if you have an android device without the license then you will need alternative app stores to install apps (e.g. Cheap chinese tablets )

I wonder how many of these use Airpush or LeadBolt? I uninstalled Mobango (on the op list) because of Airpush. Also, it's odd to see Bazaar on the list but not Aptoide, which is how it is typically accessed. http://aptoide.com/ Aptoide - Client Aptoide - Client

You can't browse appslib on the computer. If you can't see beyond what's popular and have to hunt, it's a pain.
I do most of my check before download on the computer. I can check forums, blogs, reviews, the dev's webpage before I make up my mind. The larger screen and a wired connection helps. Especially if you are doing this for a wifi only tablet, and don't have a large data plan.
I'd be wary of buying anything form an app store other than Google Play. You know Google will always stick around for Android. Any other app store may go or get out of the app business. I don't want to lose the money I spent on apps when some app store bails.

Nothing is eternal . Even with Google Play .
Backing up paid apps is the best thing to do .
Google Play did remove Better Keyboard due to a violation of TOS of a theme of Launcher(Open Home) created by the dev .(Ridiculous but true ..)
If you pay for an app, regardless of any app store ,backup is an absolute must .

I had no idea there were so many out there. I've tried a couple, but right now the only one on my phone is Google Play. Just makes it easier to re install everything when changing phones or ROMs if all your apps come from the same place.
Anyways... Great list!
