Default Unknown sources problem

I have a few apps on my Micro SD, and I cannot seem to install any of them because an error comes up saying it's not from a trusted source. I am useing a MOTOROLA FLIPSIDE, there are no setting in the phone itself. I have read somewhere in the forums that I can install the apps using the SDK somehow. Can anyone provide me with a step-by-step for this? Thanks!

You can't check "Unknown sources" on Settings, Applications ... ?

Looks like you may have to root to get this option. Have a read here for a quick way to enable the option, but like I said you will probably need to root:

I will have to pass you over to the control of the Root experts here on the forums karmaidiot:
Flipside - All Things Root - Android Forums

They should be able to assist you in all your rooting needs.
