I posted this on the Google help forum too. But the users here seem much more savvy than there. There have been some similar threads here, but none seemed to come to resolution. And my issue seems slightly different. Help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Problem: Google Voice Search will not function in Language English (US) or English (generic). When I set my language to either of these settings Google Voice Search comes back with "Server Problem" every time. I have read through all of the forums and tried all of the fixes. These are things that I tried and that DID NOT work:
- uninstall/reinstall
- clear data, cache, etc
- power cycle, remove battery, etc
- Install 'speech synthesis data installers'
- anonymize recognition in Google dashboard
- All of these things in every order.

What DOES work is switching the language to English (UK). When I make this switch Voice search will do most things: sent text, initiate call, search web, navigate, open maps. HOWEVER it won't do some things: play music, send note to self. When I try these things it just does a google search for them. My understanding is that it's because some Voice Actions are only available for English (US) settings. Which would be great since I am actually in the US. But I can't get that language setting to work.

Well, I'll just say that I'm having the same problem. I haven't tried (or even found how to) changing the language to UK English. Just tried a few examples like the video, but I got "server problem" before I could even say a phrase.

Google Search works okay, but the voice actions don't work at all.

I figured it out! Go to settings- voice input output-and unclick personalized recognition!!
