Hi gurus,

I just got new mytouch 4g slide and i would like to use LauncherPro rather than bulky HTC Sense, but I am totally and forever in love with sense's weather widget, specifically with this mesmerizing wind sound when you click on it. i know there is this Fancy Widget Pro that works fine on Launcher Pro and even looks pretty much the same, but alas, it doesn't have the sound!!! So it's useless to me

Pretty please, guys, teach me how to extract Weather Widget from HTC Sense. There is should be a way! Or how enable this wind sound on FWPro?

Hm, i just thought, if none of the above is possible, may be you could suggest me app dock for HTC Sense similar to the one in Launcher Pro? I think, i can tweak Sense the way I want, I just need that neat app dock..

This should work. Nice and simple, no need to root anything

Get an app backup app. I use https://market.android.com/details?id=mobi.infolife.appbackup#?t=W251bGwsMSwy LDUwMSwibW9iaS5pbmZvbGlmZS5hcHBiYWNrdXAiXQ..
Install it on your HTC Sense.
Back up the wether widget you love so much.
Copy the backed up APK file to your new my touch 4g slide. (You may need to copy it to a computer in between)
Install the widget by launching the apk file from a file browser on the touch 4g slide. (Most phones don’t come with a file browser, I use https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDUwMSwiY 29tLnJobXNvZnQuZm0iXQ..

Not sure if the above would work. The HTC Sense Widget "senses" if you are using a different. Launcher. Using a backup apk of the widget won't change anything.

Just get either Beautiful Widgets, Fancy Widgets or Go Weather. They look like Sense Weather Widget.

Dam, the “what hardware am I running on” check is one of the forms of DRM I disapprove of. It prevents you from using programs you have actually payed for.

It doesn't have to do anything with the hardware. Its a Launcher feature, just like how Launcher Pro Plus widgets aren't working on Go Launcher, or why some Go Widgets aren't useable on Launcher Pro, because the Sense widgets are essentially add-ons to the Sense launcher. Its like trying to use a Sony TV remote on a Samsung TV.

i never knew that some of the HTC widgets included sounds. IMO sounds would get annoying after awhile.

Thank you so much to everybody who replied here!
My lovely bf resolved my issue easily by just creating a shortcut to the Weather Widget Activity (yaaaay, yaaay). No hacking, no rooting, no crazy hours in sdk trying to break Sense. Easy peasy.
