I recently about 2 weeks ago purchased the optimus v from virgin mobile, works great, no issues, I did download the barcode scanner application from the market, worked great until I UPDATED IT, now it won't work at all, just goes to a black screen so I am unable to see anything out of the camera while in the program.

midwestzero...I just activated my virgin mobile phone yesterday. I have downloaded 3 different scanners (including the one mentioned above) and all three of the scanners have a black screen when you go into the bar code mode. Is is possible that it is a virgin mobile thing?

I am hoping someone can help with this. I would really like to use a bar code scanner.

I just found a bar code that is working. It was on the android market and called ShopSavvy. All I know is that it is working. If anyone else knows anything about it please let me know. Just thought I would share an app that is actually working.

I have a V and updated it this AM. Mine goes to black, but has the red scanning line on it.... but it definitely doesn't turn the camera on like it should... I'd say take of the lens cap hope they update it soon, I'm sure they've got lots of feedback.

Works on my Galaxy Player, so must be a "V" thing.

tcat...that is exactly what mine does. I said just black,but it does have the red line.

I am new to the whole android thing (as in this is my first smart phone and tablet both purchased within this week). I am assuming updates help usually?

I've had my optimus V for a year but after i downloaded an update for the bar code scanner every time i enter the scan showe it shows a black screen. i hope a update is made to fix this. until im looking for a replacemnt to the bar code scanner app

The scanner app ShopSavvy work fine for my Virgin Mobile Optimus V phone so until the original problem gets fixed i will just use this app as a replacement

I have this exact same problem with the "Barcode Scanner" app. I've used it before but just tried it today and get the black screen issue as well. Haven't tried any other apps yet but I guess I'll try shopsavy.
