Default Which cloud or app??

Hi

I'm new to Android, just got myself a tablet.

I am getting a bit lost amidst the apps, and was wondering which cloud or app to go for for my documents.....I feel like I only need one!

What I mean is, if I use dropbox, do I really need google docs too? Or amazon cloud? or evernote (for document storage & retrieval) or catch??

I don't really understand how you could use more than one for different uses. It feels like the more spread out my stuff is, the messier it will get & hence harder to control.

Thanks for any explanations!

Really depends on how much space do you need. If you don't need alot, just sign up for one. Then if you end up needing more sign up for another storage account.

Depends on how you want to handle documents. Note that Google Docs, Evernote and Dropbox handles files differently. I don't use Google Docs so I wont cover it.

Evernote handles files just like OneNote. You use the app to type and it saves a copy on the internet. Note that while the things you save here can be shared, it can only be shared to others with an Evernote app as well. Plus this service is paid, or else you're limited to only 60mb sync per month. In some ways, this is not an actual cloud storage service, unlike Dropbox, Sugarsync, Minus or Box. Evernote files can only be opened on Evernote, and its not meant to be used as a cloud storage service for your files. From what you write, you want document storage and retrieval, which Evernote is not. Its a note-taking app. Think of it as an electronic notebook where you can write or draw stuff that comes into mind, that just syncs to your PC.

Dropbox and similar cloud storage services handles files "AS IS", meaning they don't do anything to the documents, and just saves a copy of the file itself on a server. Think of it as your own storage space on the web. If you have the file as .docx on your PC, it will also show up as .docx on your devices or when you share it. These are the type of cloud storage you seem to need.

I personally use 3 different cloud storage services (not counting SpringPad and Evernote which are cloud notes): Dropbox, Sugarsync and SkyDrive. Dropbox is what my classmates voted for our file-sharing, which is why I have an account there. A free account starts with 2GB, and can reach to 10GB (I now have 8.8GB). Sugarsync is more of my personal cloud and backup space for important files, and for file backup/sync with my phone. A free account starts with 5GB and can reportedly grow to 105GB (I currently have 37GB free). Skydrive I use primarily as a backup for my OneNote files, and now made even more useful with the release of OneNote for Android which syncs via Skydrive. This last one is a fixed 25GB storage space.
