Notsure Handcent, why cant I set my Vibrate pattern?

I just downloaded Handcent for my Milestone and I love it! The only problem that I seem to have is the vibrate pattern settings. At the moment my phone vibrates like a raped ape when I receive a text, 6 short fast tones, its ******ed. I tried changing the pattern to one of handcents preset vibration patterns but no matter which box I check, it stays the same, 6 short rapid vibrations. I already have my stock sms notifications turned completely off so it can't be that. I really like handcent, but my god I hate this pattern not to mention the effect it seems to be having on my battery. I recently performed a factory reset on my phone as it was getting slower, I don't know if this has anything to do with it. Any feedback would be awesome, I can't take this much longer! And god forbid I have to make a tone my notification reminder.

Download "smart vibrator" from the market. You can customize the vibration for almost any notification.

You can. Open Handcent, press home, settings, notification settings, vibrate pattern. There, you can choose one of five presets or "custom". I use custom where you are prompted to list pattern, milliseconds. I use 0,200.

Right above vibrate pattern in notification settings is vibrate. Make sure its turned on.
