Default SMS Notifications

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I can't see any thing that obviously answers my question.

On all my previous phones whenever I receive an SMS, if I don't look at it straight away it continues to beep/flash every x minutes until I look at it.

My current phone (Galaxy Ace on Three (UK)) doesn't appear to have an option for this. I get the envelope at the top of the screen, but if I don't look at my phone it could be days before I realise I have a message.

Can anyone tell me, is this feature built in somewhere (and if so where), or is it just another feature that should be built in, but isn't?

I don't believe there's an option for it. I think most SMS replacement apps add that functionality.

I never had a Samsung with that feature. The only phones I've had that had that feature was a Motorola. You can get SMS reminder features with other SMS apps like Go SMS or Handcent

I use Handcent, and that option is there.
